No injuries is the main positive I take from tonight, also very impressed with Slocombe. Onto Saturday now.
It was a decent performance especially 2nd half,if the fringe players had played like that v Wolves U21's we would have won - perhaps this is why LW wants to work with them before putting them in the team.
I enjoyed that game.
I thought the fringe players did well.
Slocombe has given LW something to seriously consider.
Not only did he make several fantastic saves, his distribution was superb.
The two loanees did ok at the back. Macari looked the more assured out of the two. I haven’t seen their goal but felt Tipton should have been tighter. Rawlinson had a good game.
Morias had plenty of running but doesn’t look sharp. It’s unfair to compare with Langstaff but you always feel ML will get on the end of something or sniff out a chance. I just don’t get that same feeling with Morias. Ironically, Scott getting injured was probably a bad thing for him. He’s barely any closer to getting minutes on the pitch and it probably stopped him from a loan move to get match fit.
That is the happiest I have seen LW in a post match interview. Massively impressed by Austin, and I think there is a chance we will see SS in nets on Saturday, from LW reactions to his performance. On reflection, I can see why LW was so pleased, as it was a performance that got better as the game went on, with our fringe players, against a full Derby eleven who do not have a game at the weekend, and were really getting stuck in, and even time wasting towards the end.
I'm pretty sure that's a first for Notts.
We've scored penalties in 4 consecutive matches, in 1972 (incl an FA Cup tie) but all 4 were scored by Kevin Randall
and four again in 1973 (3 Masson, 1 Randall)
Three in 1977 (all Carter), 2000 (all Andy Hughes). 2022 (2 Robers, 1 Rodrigues) and now 2023.
That all said, reports of early games (pre-war) apparently didn't always mention that goals had been scored from the spot.

Curiously we've only conceded penalties that were converted in three consecutive games on just two occasions - 1983 (Norwich, Birmingham, Stoke) and 2007 (Wycombe, Bury, Mansfield).
If we score from the spot on Saturday, it equals the club record of four consecutive games with penalties converted by Notts.
Own goals - we've never had more than two consecutive games, for or against.
