Big applause for Tonali when he came on.
Sorry, but this support for Tonali is pathetic. It's like the guy who finds his best mate sleeping with his wife and continues to be his friend.
Absolute cuck territory.
We aren't gonna see the guy again for at least a year by all accounts.
This reminds me of those powerful celebs who get into trouble and no one does anything because of who they are.
Imagine the different attitude of the supporters if this was a lesser player.
I'll say no more on this **** now. Sick of it. No values, no principles. We've been completely done by this clown and blind loyalty won't change it.
Joelinton got in his car and drove whilst under the influence of alcohol.. it is estimated that between 240 and 280 people were killed in collisions in Great Britain where at least one driver was over the drink-drive limit last year..
How many people have been killed from illegal betting?
Do you support Joelinton... would you cheer him if he scored.. did you state the disrespect to the public of England and especially the public in and around Newcastle where he was driving was there to be seen?
Or is the fact that Newcastle United didn't suffer so its all ok?
I can check through your posts around Joelinton on here for that particular event to see how much disdain you had for him at the time...
People make mistakes.. I would 100% say Joelinton's is worse than Tonali's.. tell me I'm wrong?
I’d say again that two wrongs don’t make a right. Using a ‘worse’ bad thing to justify a ‘lesser bad one isn’t the way to go. Whether Joelinton’s was worse or not? It depends how you measure it. Financial damage to the club? Deceiving tens of thousands of people? Causing difficulty with FFP play rules to make it harder for the club to push on? I could go on.
It's not a fair comparison although i get where you are coming from.
The Joelinton one seemed different because it didn't appear calculated or planned, whereas Tonali's did.I don't care less about the actual betting. Betting on your own team to win is hardly morally repulsive. I actually think the punishment coming his way is harsh if thats all he did (I think he used an illegal platform etc).
How drunk was Joelinton? For more context, how many people have died in car collisions where drink or drugs was not involved?
The logic being applied to Joelinton would mean no one should ever drive again.
Joelinton was a prat for doing it, but he didn't intend to harm Newcastle United or anyone else. That doesn't make it ok.
Tonali planned this **** (it appears), which is why I am so angry about it. I will of course reassess my view if further information comes to light that contradicts my current opinion.
In regards to the earlier comments about corruption scandals in Italian football, one of the reasons why it keeps coming up is due to the way the Italian legal system works and because they have a history of aggressively investigating things. The Italian mentality is to assume there is corruption in everything and therefore it gets looked into, as opposed to here in the UK where the assumption is that because we are British there cannot possibly be anything underhand going on so there is no point in investigating anything. In Italy it is the judges themselves that perform investigations on their own initiative (which outside of football can be for political reasons but that is a different story) as opposed to the football authorities (FIGC/Serie A etc.) so there is no thought of damaging the image of the game and burying things under the rug
I wouldn't boo the guy at a game no. But applause basically says it's fine what he has done.
We wouldn't applaud a player who has made a wreckless challenge and got himself suspended for 3 games, but we applaud a guy who has knowingly come to us with a very lengthy suspension looming.
Yep, Terry's right.
He's made a massive mistake and he's definitely dropped us right in it BUT...he's our player, a young man who we can support as a club and a fanbase as he works through his problems.
The deed is done and a huge punishment is inevitably on its way. So, the question is, what do we do. Imo, nothing would be gained by having a go at him, exiling him, etc. The way to move on is to support him and help him and I think we will ultimately reap the rewards whrn he comes back.
it's a shit situation that we have no choice but to make the best of.
