I know that top clubs like city gamble on potential like ourselves in a way, but the difference is our potential comes from lower leagues or as this summer proved non league whilst city pay out millions for their flutters but it has to be said whoever signed Tedic for City must have been having some kind of off day big style, there is absolutely no way Tedic would get any where near their first team squad , we have had some really good loan players from premier league clubs Barnes , Drinkwater , Trippier ,etc etc but Tedic was a complete waste of time , I say waste of time because we could have put a Barnsley youngster in the squad for our own development instead of wasting time on Tedic , he brought nothing to the side all season yet I suppose our spreadsheet said different , I am now hoping our spreadsheet says it has learnt its lesson and we do not go back in for him again.

Agree with that Shads and we have also signed a similar type of player in Cosgrove. Although he hasnt set the world on fire yet my feeling is we should persist with him and try to develop his game as he is our player and not a loanee. Tedic offered little during his stay here and I cant see a second spell with us delivering anything different. Steer a wide berth is my opinion

I actually think that Cosgrove will come good, unlike Tedic Cosgrove has proved himself at this level & was more than useful for Argyle last season although he has not pulled any trees up so far for us. I also think like Keiffer Moore Cosgrove seems to get a raw deal with the refs , 50/50 challenges always seem to go against him & whilst some might argue that he was fortunate with the goal he scored it was soon evened up when Jalo was harshly judged off well after Cosgrove had netted a perfectly good goal, hopefully he will settle & if Cole moves on Cosgrove will no doubt take the lead role & he will be given a chance to put things right.

    Week Two of the window.

"We like to get our business done early"

Just one or two fringe loan players in and out and Donovan C Pines considering his options at home in the USA as MLS clubs assemble their 2024 Rosters there ready for the new season starting 21st February.

To be honest the market in general seems to have been dead in the first week , minds you one day was a bank holiday & two more were weekend days but I whilst I have seen plenty of speculation regarding division one clubs I cannot recall reading about any transfers anywhere in the league , january is always a slow burner with many deals depending on the domino effect but I actually do not see much activity at Oakwell , Jalo signing a new contact is a good start but whilst some of our fan base predicting a fire sale down at Grove st I don"t see it myself, hopefully some of the fringe players might move on and hopefully we strengthen our defence but I see it as being a quiet month for us , we shall see I"m usually wrong !!!!

    I can’t see a fire sale either.

In fact I can see them going totally in the opposite direction to that - by hanging onto players longer than what they should.

At the last supporters meeting I got the impression that both JAQ and Neerav were rattled when it was suggested the club is a selling club trying to make a quick buck.
I think they might try to do something daft to prove that theory wrong eg hanging onto a player whose contract expires next summer even though a decent bid has been received.

IMO any player whose contract is up in the summer and is refusing to sign another contract should be sold.
They are clearly going to walk out the door in the summer - so if the club can recoup anything from them, then they should.

At the end of this season I can see us getting into the playoffs - but I can’t see us being anywhere near getting promotion (fingers crossed I’m wrong) - so I think the best strategy would be to start planning for the following season.
Which means of course - getting rid of all those that won’t sign an extension to their contract.
And giving much needed game time to those that will still be here next season.

Devante Cole linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday , if true it would be difficult to keep hold of him in my opinion plus he's a free agent in the summer .

I reckon £500k would be acceptable given what's left on that contract .

    Yep.
And all the others can leave that won’t renew.

I think Styles, Williams and Kane are on that list.
    Any others ?
