I think he's earnt the right to be backed reasonably in the summer and see what he can do next year. The football at times was poor, but he's galvanised a team a got the job done.
Anyone expecting him to keep us up next year is crazy. As long as he plays pragmatically and the players give their all i'll still back him.
We have been promoted twice in the last 3 seasons but they have been chalk and cheese. In 2022/23 Kompany’s team cut loose with ten consecutive victories that absolutely blew away the chasing pack. They ended on 101 points ten clear of Sheffield United and a massive 21 points ahead of third-placed Luton Town. They marvellously took the title in Rovers backyard and we will always have those joyous celebrations to savour. This season has lacked that swagger. For the most part it was a 4 horse race with Sunderland the first to fall by the wayside. That left Leeds, Sheffield United and Burnley chasing the top two spots with the Yorkshire pair in the box seats. The pressure was huge and Parker was the model of calm. That calm clearly kept the team and the fans steadfast. Eventually it was Sheffield United and their boss Wilder who unravelled. Three straight defeats left the Blades in disarray. Promotion was sealed on Monday night as the Clarets delivered the death blow to any lingering hopes Sheffield United may still have had. As Josh Brownhill said post match and very tongue in cheek Burnley have bored their way to promotion. It was a promotion built on solid defence and their efforts have written themselves into the record books. As Josh also said the success was due to the efforts of the whole team. For Scott Parker this will be rightly a personal triumph against the odds.
I think I might be the first to spawn this phrase but Parker had our boys playing a brand of cohesive football that I have not seen the like of before. The tenacity and desire to not concede goals is and was truly incredible.
Hold my hands up for that but I?m unsure if he read on here or just got wind of the murmuring as let?s be honest I wasn?t on my own and the football was dire on occasions , we did change tacti a bit and try and win more games
I also posted if you read back what a gentleman he is and handles himself very well with all things football.
Water under the bridge now as it would have been a mistake getting rid - can?t help thinking we?d be 9
Points clear now though if we?d applied ourselves a little earlier.
As for BTs obsession with slagging our players off I don?t agree with it - no point going any further recent lovechild as there is no debate to be done. ( it?s exhausting).
I have never ever slagged our own players off army88. I just don't think Foster is worth a shirt. When a midfielder outscores a supposed centre forward by 14 goals over a full season something, somewhere is just not right.![]()
Have a read back BT we?ve been debating this for a long time - I seem to remember you slating McNeil and he was $hite then when he was the only creative player we had and teams knew that so doubled up on him.
Foster turn now and I?ll whole heartedly admit he hasn?t scored enough - he?s had a tough season with injury again though and was then played at left wing - when I watch him his contribution is always good just not enough goals - some team will benefit I?m sure of it
It will be interesting to see how Parker shapes the squad over the summer and what kind of player we can attract.
More of the fringe players from the Kompany era will be off. Amdouni, Tresor, Koleosho and even Foster maybe.
