Do you have any proof that it's the worst league in living memory? A very bold statement that.

A lot of people seem convinced that because the teams at the top of the league have been inconsistent and keep losing to teams lower down the league, it must be a terrible league.

Personally I would see that it's a sign that it's actually a very tough, competitive league, in the same way that the Premier League is always seen as being a very strong league because any team can beat any other on their day.

But that doesn't fit the narrative for some folk

I mean the points required for 3rd place was the least required which indicates that there's no runaway leaders.

I'd say we've blown a bloody great opportunity by underperforming for what seems like 60/70% of the season.

The general standard of the League is truly awful.
How many times have you watched a League Two match and thought "they were good", I can only really think of Chesterfield at their place when they played at a high tempo and but for a defensive brainfart at the end would have beaten us there.

Quite ironic that we have had injuries to our match winners (and sold one mid season) for around 60/70% of the season....is there a link there or is it just coincidence?...x

It's definitely turned out to be a very tough competitive league, but at what level? If you had 24 sh!t teams it would certainly be tough and competitive, but that still wouldn't make it a good league. When you look at what Wrexham and Stockport have done, I think we will be missing out on a golden opportunity unless we win the next two games.

But when you look at what Crawley and Mansfield have done, you could argue that we’re not ready for such a golden opportunity. Mansfield were far superior to most L2 sides last year but struggled to avoid relegation this season - while Crawley were relegated. There’s no sign that the bros would be able to spend the kind of money on the squad we’d need this summer. We also have an unknown quantity in the new head of recruitment, so I won’t be too concerned if we miss out this season as long as we aim to improve the team again this summer to go up next year.

I was basing the 'weaker division' theory on the performance of who went up and who came down. Stockport, Wrexham, Mansfield and Crawley being replaced by Cheltenham, Fleetwood, Port Vale and Carlisle made it a fair bit weaker in my opinion.

What proof do you need/want? It?s subjective obviously (I should?ve added the word ?arguably?), but based on many things including the fact it?s taken far less points than last year and presumably most others to be promoted, Stockport/Wrexham and even the Stags for the most part competing in League One (and all looking far stronger than anything I?ve seen this season) from last year?s promoted clubs. And us finishing 6th despite only producing a handful of decent home performances all season.

Williams had us in the playoffs with a vastly inferior squad in terms of quantity and some fans would have you believe that was underachieving. We won 10 out of 13 matches at home in his League Two season. Maynard took that team from 5th to 14th and was given the best GK in League Two (his words), at least two standout CBs, two wing backs who?d just been promoted and Abbott in addition to McGoldrick, Jones, Jatta, Crowley etc and for the most part has had us producing football that would send a glass eye to sleep.

The issue all season has been in the dugout. How many games has Maynard outthought his opposite number, or positively changed it with his subs? Stick McGoldrick alone in Wimbledon?s team and they probably win the title (IMO).

    Spot on.

I?m all for different opinions to my own but when it?s so glaringly obvious what the problem is, I struggle to take pro-Maynarders very seriously.
