Actually MR that's not strictly true. He was chief executive of BBC Studios. That commercial side of the BBC that they don't like to talk about, that makes money commercially and dabbles in advertising(cough). In fact it made £1.4 billion on top of the tax robbery license fee.
He has actually said the BBC could raise much more money than it does on its own, and isn't in favour of the license fee.
However, what he says and what he does, will be remained to be seen.

I’m not sure what you mean about BBC employees and contractors offering political opinions. I haven’t seen the likes of Louise Minchin, Dan Walker, Naga Munchetty or Charlie Stayt ever doing that, but clearly those on more political or satirical programmes are paid to do precisely that, aren’t they?
You got that list right rA, but you made an assumption that 'we' all agreed with that. In terms of a simple count I might agree, but that ignores the influence of each of those media outlets and also ignores the fact that its not a full list, especially as so many folk now get their news online.

The offering of political/putting the world to rights opinions on twitter etc relates in particular (because its him in the news but not just him) to Gary Lineker, who has been outspoken on social media for some time, heavily politically biased and the source of a lot of complaints therefrom. I must admit as a non twitter user and having no interest in him as a broadcaster I wasn't especially aware til recently, but there you go. My guess is this one will run and run, GL has brushed off the edict and says it doesn't apply to him, we shall see.

No I mean why start saying he is going to change things when he's had 12yrs to do it . Yes trying to make out he's the new on the block. Well he isn't he's part of the reason the BBC are under government pressure to change

Andy there is no chance they will sack Lineker the thought of him walking straight into another presenting job with another tv channel will stop that happening . People can't stand the fact that somebody so rich and famous should actually be a socialist ,it's nothing to do with being a BBC employee

Not true in August 2020 Tim Davie says " I'm in support of the licence fee as opposed to a Netflix style subscription fee "

    I disagree.
They did it with Clarkson because his offence went against their WOKE and political correct beliefs.
But in effect they destroyed one of their most successful programmes ever, as the other two quit in support.
They moved to Amazon and the BBC's answer was Chris Evans.

But they did it, knowing that effectively Top Gear was finished.

Like I said, what he said and does. He has said it before and you are omitting his wages were paid out of a private segment of the BBC.
He has had a pay cut to step into his current role.
he promised to reel in the left wing opinions of its employees etc. Not a chance in hell will he achieve that.
Neutality is now impossible at the Biased Broadcasting Corporation

If I’ve made such an ‘assumption’, I apologise. Not really sure how the list, or the conclusion, can be argued with, or what difference getting news ‘on line’ makes...read the Guardian or the Express ‘online’ and any ‘bias’ surely remains the same as the printed editions.

Not sure either why Gary Lineker should be criticised for having political opinions. He’s just a football presenter and we all have some degree of political opinion...why shouldn’t he express his? If he were a newsreader and made political comments on news stories it would be different.

If they sack Lineker I will be the first on here to apologise ,but it will not happen

What Lineker actually said was " I thought only Twitter could ban you from Twitter " but don't let the truth get in the way
