We’re focusing on what we have to lose. They have plenty to lose as well.

99% of people will never have to negotiate any significant financial deal in life.

In Parliament reduce that by half.

I’m not a big hitter but every 7 figure deal, i’ve been involved, with has gone to the wire.

Yep accept the Europeans will be in the shyte if we come out Howdy. Still think it will break up anyway in a few years. If we set the ball rolling it will break up sooner. Then all this Brexit stuff we have had over the years will have been pointless ie if we had waited long enough it would naturally have come to an end.

This is no different.

The difference is though Howdy is that many believe, in Parliament and public, that Johnson has no intention of getting a deal. He is using, and will continue to use every trick in the book to get us to 31st of October with no deal. That's the only thing that matters to that wing of the party, and to the majority of No Dealers on here. The 'deal' that you wish to see has no chance of existing, and never has. There's no majority in parliament, or public, for an extreme Brexit.

Johnson's only hope would be a slight adjustment to the backstop. And most on here, and the right wing of his party wouldn't tolerate that. I would personally like him to pull that out of the bag, put it together with some standards guarantees to get a few more Labour votes and get this whole nightmare over with. But I guess you wouldn't back that, and his party most likely wouldn't either.

Extremists on either side. Unwillingness to compromise. That's the problem.

It all points to a ‘ bloodbath’ for Labour Roly. They will have all on maintaining the seats they have let alone gain any.
It’s their own fault, they should come off the fence and decide to Remain, like most of them want to anyway.
Lib Dem’s should easily increase the seats they have and Brexit Party could do damage to Tory and especially Labour.

The problem with coming off the fence and backing remain is that whilst the Labour membership is Remain heavy, the leadership know that the Labour voters and public in general are split pretty much down the middle as are the Tories. Their stance has been Leave but with a reasonable Deal as main preference. I don't think they were far off backing the WA and it's in this area that I think that the Labour leadership would most like to be. If Johnson would turn away from the extremists in his own party and look to a deal that would get the backing of enough MPs, moderate Labour and Tory, to get it over the line, then this is surely the direction to head towards?

Not sure we should be playing dare with the short / medium term future of the country and the businesses that will suffer.

I also think that the revelations in operation yellow hammer will have an effect in the election. Little old ladies who always vote for that nice Mr Tory -yes the equivalent of your labour donkey with a red rosette but with a smarter suit and cheeky chappie looks like their grand sons-will not be so keen if they think they are not gonna get their medicines and marks and sparks fruit and veg. Look how they panicked about the triple lock looking like it might be removed on pensions at the last election. Opposition MPs only need to play on this during the election campaigns and nice Mr Tory might not seem so nice to them. (I have always thought little old ladies have a lot to answer for at general elections)

Think the tories would be foolish to stand against the brexit party because their vote will be split. Hope they do tho cos neither will have a chance of doing much at the election.

I will tell ya one thing it will be the most interesting election ever with twists and turns all over the place. It will be a highly tactical affair both from the voters' and party's perspective. Unfortunately it will all amount to nowt tho and we will be back to square one...


Kerr: Can see that as a tactic, so maybe no Tories up round here. The prob for the tories and the Brexit party is if they have got the mood of the country for brexit wrong they will get decimated. I still think that leavers are over egging the support for leaving without a deal. Things have changed since the referendum and could change again. Fascinating stuff. I want the film rights!
