He really enjoyed it mate, he couldn't believe how green the grass was and was in awe of the whole scale of the ground. He and his sister sang their little hearts out and my Son even shouted 'the referee is rubbish' and he's only 5.

I was really pleased with my two little one's because they observed The Last Post and minutes silence immaculately.

We parked at Rainham and they were chanting 'come on you Irons' all the way home pretty much.

    The Game:

Well first of all I must say that Villa looked very poor but we deserved to win even though we were average. Song wasd man of the match on the PA and he does look a competent footballer but we lacked a bit of craft or quality. The crowd were strangely subdued to start with whist the Villa fans in the TB made plenty of noise bearing in mind they

Always good to visit Upton Park these days, thought you guys were frustrated by some great defending by us, in the first half you looked like you were going to get a cricket score.

How the **** wasn't that a pen right at the end on Song?
    The ref had a shocker.
Worst decision was when Cole controlled the ball in the pen area and the ref gave a free kick because the Villa players went down holding his ankle...

On a positive note Carroll looked good and Sam has said he won't be a starter for a few games yet.
Good to hear that as Valencia and Sakho are our 2 main starters imo.

Nathan Baker , if really injured, had only himself to blame. A penalty for me.
The only time I can recall a stretchered off player being booed.

How there were only four extra minutes I don't know.

It makes such a change to want more time instead of less added on.

    All good stuff so far.

    Irons.

Totally agree. Villa looked like us last season. Just scrambling to get a point. They packed in their Defence, making it hard for a real footballing club like us to play true football. What did Jose M. say after our draw with Chelski last year. Big Sam should have said the same thing after the Villa Match..."Aston Villa have set the game of football back 100 years". COYI!

Bit harsh, they were totally crap first half, but second half they came out better. And i wouldnt be surprised if we played similar against Chelski.

If they set football back 100 years, then after last seasons performances by us they still got another hundred years back to take our accolade.

Well i think it was pretty accurate, and had their finishing been better in the chances they had in the second half, to state the obvious, they would have had us chasing a one goal deficit, but the same could be said for them had we put away our chances, only maybe a 3 goal one.

They certainly were not The Villa we are use to, seem a bit disjointed, but to date dont think they have been as dire as we were last season.

Having said that, they need to find the net, or they are doomed.
