My itk tells me that the maintenance team at zsl normally split their time between Whipsnade and Regent's Park usually a reliable source too, don't know that much about the janitors probably mostly scrubbing out the bogs.

Well your itk is a bit misinformed I'm afraid.. the maintenance was outsourced to a contractor a year ago.. the firm I work for. The cleaning and janitorial is a different subbie.
The two zoo maintenance teams occasionally cover each other when a certain trade is light due to holidays but not often..
I wish I could be there all the time but I have other sites to cover hence being out in Cambridge today.
