Many a club that go down with huge parachute payments do not "walk the Championship!"
However if (IF) we get relegated then it really isn't life threatening.

OK I know we got stuffed today, but if you are feeling it's time to slash your wrists, please ring the Samaritans on Freephone 116123 and put it all into perspective.

From The Darkness
Would agree with all that.
They earned a lot more from staying in the Prem, and especially 7th than any balloon payment.. its not a incentive!
We're a long way from going down, and so far it's all going as I expected. But come Thursday we'll be out of the Mickey Mouse, we can get back to working on the training ground, we have Defour and Brady to come back, and gradually we'll start picking up the points. In six months time we'll be wondering what all the fuss was about.

They did well didn't they!
Eight promotions, eight relegations, one FA Cup Final defeat, two semi-final appearances, seen us be champions of all four divisions of English football and watched us in play in three different European Competitions and also seen us almost go out of the League.
The question is----How the hell have I survived all of that and never felt suicidal? Answer ---it is just a game which can be enjoyed whether you win or lose because there are many more things in life that are more important than football.
I have to admit that I do enjoy all the moans that I see on here, it rivals all the moans I hear regularly from the local Toon fans who never stop going on about Ashley. I ahve suggested to them that they all chip in and buy the club so that they could run it ---perhaps that would be a good idea for Clarets fans, after all it worked for Portsmouth and they spent 7 consecutive seasons in the Premier League between 2003/4 and 2009/10. I would chip in 5 bob if it would help.
Old git - what is a bob?
It is something which I accepted when I sgned up to join the Royal Air Force in 1966 and never regretted --it was donated by the Queen you know and a lot of us did that sort of thing on those days. Mind you 5p doesn't go very far these days!
I am optimistically looking forward to wakening up in the morning as I do every day---here's hoping! -----it is my unbounded optimism that keeps me going.
