My last word on this because you're just being ridiculous now.

A nosebleed is not necessarily painful, everyone has fragile blood vessels in their nasal cavity and nosebleeds happen, often without any pain, with the slightest interference. I suffered quite badly with nosebleeds as a ****ager and had my vessels cauterised - you know a rod shoved right up to the back of your nose to seal off the blood vessels - it was not even slightly painful so there is no way a soft swab put in the same place can cause 'severe pain'. Nosebleed? Yes. Severe pain? Just no.

If you're in 'severe pain' you normally get strong medication, do people really need Co-codamol or morphine to be able to tolerate this test or immediately after it? No, they get the test and get on with their lives.

If this was likely to be a painful procedure the minimum that would be offered is a numbing spray - why do you think this is not offered?

If a numbing spray was offered it might have resulted in a false test.
All I know is that I was warned immediately before having my test that I might find it painful and if it was causing me distress then I had to let the nurse who was taking my test know.
People have different levels of pain threshold. You must be one of the lucky ones who has a high pain threshold.

Curious Islay on a scale of 1 to 10 how sair/painful/mildly discomforting.....was this test.

I put a cauld at 2, an Asthma attack at 5, tweaked ankle ligaments 1, displaced pupil 8, watching Randy Wolters 9.

The swab at the back of my throat was 5.
The swab up my nostril into my nasal canal was 9. It was even more painful than having a catheter fitted.

Having had the swab test in April, I would say it was painful, not a lasting pain, more like a sharp pain, it felt like they were trying to push my eyeball out from the inside, but the pain was gone as soon as the swab was out, I’d say a moment of pain but not a lasting one

After the swab was removed from my nostril I immediately developed a swelling on the bridge of my nose which subsided after several hours.

Deeranged should go to Kings Cross Hospital and ask for a Coronavirus Test. He will then know for himself how painful the test is.
One thing is certain. The people who have been taking the coronavirus test themselves have been ‘playing at it’ and it is very likely that they have been led into a false sense of security when they have tested negative.
People on Islay are ‘very jumpy’ about Coronavirus being introduced to the island yet Islay Golf Club have a Golf Week commencing today, 1st August 2020 for all their members to enter which includes Country members.
I heard about this earlier this week and ‘my source’ told me that members were coming from all over the country which will be throughout the UK to play in this Golf week.
In my opinion the committee of Islay Golf Club have been very irresponsible setting up this Golf week when Coronavirus has not been eradicated and new cases are again increasing in number.
This week is normally the Kildalton Cross golf week but it was cancelled several months ago due to the coronavirus pandemic.
