Yes, all fair and balanced in the best traditions of the BBC.[/QUOTE
and you weren't worried about the points of discussion?
People need to remember that those accounts were for season 2018/19, when we brought in a new team in January and weren't able to get rid of the deadwood at the same time.
We are now two years further on (latest accounts for 2019/20 should be out in the next couple of weeks) which should give a more realistic view of the spending on wages.
Its been said a thousand times over that we needed to have certain criteria in place to achieve elite academy status. Which will allow us to attract a better standard of footballer. Which will allow us to be more successful on the park. Will will allow us to make more money on these players.
How hard is it to understand?
They did have the money to pay for it. Then Covid happened. Surely the owner should be applauded for trying to keep the youngsters in playing, keeping their mental health in check, keeping their progression going to the best of their ability.
Will you be moaning about it in a few years time where we've either made money from these young players or we have a team full of academy players that are plying their trade (hopefully successfully) in the Premiership? Okay we cant see the future and you never know what will happen, but keeping the academy running surely makes the above more likely to happen than if we'd just stuck it in cold storage for god knows how long?
This has all been blown out of proportion simply because the owner and TA have been candid about how difficult its been. Other clubs in the league have had to pay off managers, sign players because they are worried about relegation, where we have given ourselves a decent shot at being able to sign 0 players this window (remember Fuchs and McNulty were signed well into the start of the season) and still manage to be comfortable in the league.
The future may be cloudy for all clubs but keeping our academy players progressing throughout this time will make sure the future will eventually be Tangerine![]()
