I hope Ismael is not breaking Covid rules again like he did when he was sacked at LASK by bringing Daz Dike in earlier than the Covid rules allow.

Tell them breaking Covid rules was worth it

Ismael confirms that Dike has had a negative Covid test.

He's had another with the rest of squad as per EFL protocols.

If it's all okay, he's in Barnsley sqaud for Saturday, Ismael says #barnsleyfc

It's true the lad is getting a lot of media hype. It's a puzzle we or anyone else in UK football had never heard his name until Dane chatted to friends in Orlando and agreed to give him some games over here in the MLS close season.

As you say Eths we will soon see for ourselves what all the hype is about. Most 20 year olds would be introduced to this level gradually but the pressure is on from Orlando to give him game time immediately and consistently or they will recall him. Is it too much pressure on the lad and how will other players and the Head Coach react to the expectation that Dike has to be selected regularly ?

    Interesting times.

I think we dropped lucky SB , he was a player we knew about because his stats were off the scale apparently .

Nobody could bring him here until he was capped by the US national team because of immigration rules which only happened on sunday night when he came off the bench against Trinidad and Tobago .

I suspect Spud used his connections rapidly and he was our player within hours before anyone else could react .

That's what I mean. If his stats were "off the scale" why didn't global football super powers know about him ?Are we saying only Billy Beane's stats package was good enough to spot him ?
Sounds a bit iffy to me.

No I'm not saying that but you have to factor in the nature of this seasons January window too .

Clubs with budgets cut going for promotion or fighting relegation wouldn't be attracted to Dike this window .

He's a development player in reality , their eyes were more fixed on recruiting players who can come in and instantly hit the ground .

Middle of the championship , two earlier signings in the bag this one was a Brucey Bonus because all the ducks lined up rather than any thing else .

As soon as he stepped on the field for the US we were in and got it done .

I am aware Orlando/Dike are using Barnsley as a shop window for bigger clubs to look at Dike
Dane is happy for that to happen.
We may, or may not, get a few good games out of him.
It's no more than that. A global superstar is not going to sign for Barnsley for £1 million plus if it proves this is a player who is "off the scale" in world terms.

You're not telling me you have fallen for Dane's spin that Dike is "off the scale" comparable with Ronaldo and Messi.
I thought you were better than that.
