We've defended well in terms of putting bodies on the line, winning headers and blocking shots, and the reward for that work eventually came with a great goal by Wootters.

Two areas for improvement - we've still got to be better at stopping balls coming in from wide, which is often why we've had to do the last ditch defending. And not so much trying to play out from defence against such strong opponents, where several times we've lost the ball in dangerous areas. We've effectively got two target men on the pitch tonight, so hit the front a bit quicker and play the football in their half of the pitch rather than ours.

Overall though, if you'd offered us a 1-0 lead at half-time of course we would have taken it. We're going to have to be just as resolute in the second half because they've got some good players and Tozer's long throw is a weapon.

    Wrexham will be stunned.
I think R and R will stay on the bench a bit longer now, Mitchell is a good outlet when you're defending a lead.
Many good performances. Francis has been OK, Rawlo good. Cameron and Wootton vying for our MoM I'd say.

Yes, it’d be a shame if we mucked this up with sloppy passing inside our six yard box. Nothing wrong with goal kicks going to the big men and contesting the seconds further up the pitch. It’s giving me the shudders watching some of this playing out 😬

Wootton has come back this season like a beast. He looks dangerous and assured on the ball.

As Jackal said, we need to stop putting ourselves under pressure at the back by giving it away in our half. Play it forward to our two target men because they can hold it up.

Our defence has been tested first half but we are the ones who have come out on top and lead 1-0. That is also without the likes of Roberts and Ruben on the pitch. I would have taken 1-0 at half time.

Scoring before half time has put us in a great position. It will probably be similar in the second half from Wrexham and as the away side it is to be expected. If we can get a second goal without R&R then that would put us in an excellent position. Likewise if either of both of those two do come on then it can only improve our creativity and danger from attacks.

Fabulous goal. I'd have happily settled for 0-0 at half-time after the defending we had to do. To go in 1-0 up is a BIG bonus.

Not exactly a deserved lead, but a very welcome one. We got lucky with a very dodgy offside decision but defended stoutly, and an excellent header from Wootton was a big bonus. Interesting second half coming up.
