I met him a few times, what a gentleman with so much knowledge about our great club.
RIP Colin Slater, many thanks for all you did for us.

Some great tributes on this thread. The esteem and fondness is very clear, he was such a beloved figure at the club. And bloody good at his job too, outstanding in fact, as well as being a true gent. RIP

So very sad.to wake up to the passing of Colin.
Listening to some of his commentaries on the radio brought back great memories.
A commentator of the old school, also a wonderful MC.
A legend up there with Jimmy and Jack.
    RIP Sir.

So many memories of listening to Uncle Colin on the radio over many years. A true Notts legend and will be very sadly missed. RIP Colin.

In my early years supporting Notts he was the club personified and a true gentleman.

He used to come into the shop I worked in and he would always have something of interest to say about Notts or the Cricket.

RIP Uncle Colin, there will never be anybody quite like you in sports broadcasting again and the world is certainly poorer for it.

Nice video here of Colin paying tribute to Tommy Lawton back in 1996.

Very saddened to hear of the loss of Colin Slater. He was a true gentleman and a wonderful ambassador for Notts County, Notts CCC and Nottingham. He always found time to speak to people and had the wonderful knack of putting them at their ease.
Living away from Nottingham he always provided a link to Notts and was a consummate professional.

Years ago my Dad fell quite seriously ill. I contacted Notts to see if they might send a get well card to the QMC, Colin delivered it to his bed. It thrilled my Dad and he always spoke about the chat they had. My Dads ashes are buried at pitchside at the tunnel exit but I'm sure he'll be chatting again to Colin right now. Thanks for all the memories Colin. Sleep well.
