Thread: Conway & Chien Lee have left the building

We can all speculate on how & why this change of the board occurred but the comments of Ben below (loko the tyke on BBS) of supporters trust sound accurate, i don't know this lad but i did read the posts of his mate gally who was informing us of imminent big changes a few weeks ago.

"Conscious I’m repeating myself but this was in play at least 6-9 months ago. It isn’t a reaction to falling crowds, loss of season tickets, dropping to League One. It’s a result of incompetence from the previous board being highlighted by some of the directors back when Dane Murphy’s contract wasn’t renewed (if not before)".

My personal take is that this would have happened even if we’d stayed up on the last day of the season".

It speaks volumes dun't it that the new 'owner' or whatever his role is, says results must become the main objective again now. Showing clearly that Conway & co din't give a toss, and they were only here for your money.
Who else as a co-owner would verbally dump all over a 5th place Play off season, and criticize it ?.
Facts can't be rubbish, we did under PMG achieve our first automatic promotion in 25 years and our highest league position in 21 years which was also our 3rd best season in 135 years. These don't make up for the lousy season or weak transfer windows but on the other hand these failures don't erase the significant successes either.

I thought it wouldn't take long for the Supporters Trust leader and the BBS owner to be saying they knew of Thursday's events ages ago and hint at taking some credit for what has developed.

And yet they were saying only last week that the only credible way to get ownership change is through polite discussion with Khaled and were organising another Survey and Q&A to ask the same questions.

I think it was all down to me alone in being responsible for removing Conway. It must be true because---

    1. I have called Conway various names ranging from the mild "Hoss" to the more derogatory "Arseoyle" which must have had influence amongst those at PMG who placed Conway on the Board

2 I have consistently, and to the irritation of some at times, pointed out the evil nature of Conway's tactics right from his time at OGC Nice and even through the promotion and Play Off seasons. The people in power will have followed these posts and said to themselves, "that SB wo reyt all along".

Yes Ponty it is me who should take all the credit for removing the toxic Conway. This post should be taken just as seriously as other groups/ individuals claiming it was really down to them and they knew abart it all along

You get my vote SB. As you say, you definitely cannot be accused of jumping on the bandwagon as others appear to be. As you say, what on earth was last week's questionnaire about if the ST knew this was going to happen.

I'm going to point some things out Ponty but at the same time I'm going to add some balance too .

There's little doubt in my mind that since the start of this analytical strategy to discover young undervalued talent , develop and sell for profit that this club have focused on that first and foremost and if the results hitched a ride on that then happy days .

Patrick Cryne's January of 2017 when were 7th in the championship and a point outside the play off places , we then sold Hourihane , Winnall and James Bree and finished mid table .

We then sold Marc Roberts in the summer of 2017 and built a new squad of young players that summer who weren't ready for the championship and we were subsequently relegated .

We made an awful lot of money and the books were not only balanced we were in profit but none the less we were in league one minus £8m of sky tv revenue .

In January 2019 under Stendel we were closing in on the top two and then sold Potts to Preston for £1.8m but the most damming sale of that window and spoke volumes was selling Moncur to Luton who were our direct promotion rivals , nobody but nobody sells a player to a direct promotion rival and helps them , Moncur went on to score two late goals in the closing weeks of the season which effectively denied us the league title , we also loaned Isgrove to Portsmouth who were also a direct promotion rival .

Once back in the championship we then sold our spine , Pinnock , Lindsay and Kieffer Moore and were extremely fortunate to stay up on a unprecedented night at Griffin Park , if covid hadn't interrupted the season we'd have gone down under Struber .

Val's 5th place finish last season was a tremendous achievement but because clubs were struggling financially going in to a season knowing full well it would be played out in empty stadiums we were able to keep the squad together other than Jacob Brown who left for Stoke .

We were always sell our best players , we will always lose successful Head Coaches to bigger clubs but nobody will convince me that player sales since the later days of Patrick Cryne and the entirety of PMG have come before results on the field .

The evidence is clear to see .

Parekh's letter and the wording in it to fans yesterday confirmed it .
