Tbf, we were ahead and in control before the second booking for Harkes, definitely think we were going on to win that, we followed it up with the AZ home performance

Kinda crazy how its gone since, even given for the dodgy goalie situation and not playing a cdm

That's the thing though - if you play a 5 you don't need a CDM if the central defenders push up against the midfield. His insistence on a 4 and leaving Graham benched has cost us. Plus Freeman v Smith.

I respect Mark Ogren and what he has done for our club, TA is his man, that is a condition of the takeover, which has seen us progress four years in a row, I wish people would stop trying to pin all issues on Ashgar, as they are indirectly going against Ogren, who deserves our backing (not you Stoke btw, just a general thought)

The players and the manager have to take responsibility for sure but Asghar has created an elitist culture by spending Ogrens money.

The risk with that (apart from the financial one) is that some players start to think they're better than they are.

There's stuff I could point out but maybe the best example is that trip to Spain.
I would have taken us to a training centre in England and arranged full matches against decent opponents trying 4 at the back without a CDM and a 5. Then tried different attacking options. I would have learned a lot more by assessing players in those situations than running around in 80° Spanish heat on a jolly arranged by TA long before JR turned up.

I’ve never understood why a club Utds resources waste money on a trip abroad pre season when conditions are good in Scotland, if you are you going to do that better in winter I think, but loads of clubs do it, McLean used to take Utd to Holland, usually played a fair few games tbf. Let’s be honest though, you could have spotted Utd needed a def mid just by watching games last season, asking people close to the club, or prob 45 mins of us in action. Who knows what conversations have taken place or if we have attempted to bring someone in. Maybe Ross thought sibbald was the answer until after Alkmaar away.

Fwiw I really hope JR stays

The goalkeeper situation I think has cost us a lot of goals

Yes we might be better with 5 at back and a DM but we are only a few league matches in

There has been a great win at home to Alkmaar

It’s too early not to be backing a manager who from his history is an upgrade on TC

TC hardly won any matches from December to March as I remember it and that team were lucky to get 4th

More time needed and it would be madness to think about changing managers now

LSArab, the only positive from your post is the win to Alkmaar at home, and anyone who watched it without tangerine specs would say we should have lost handsomely. We were very lucky.

There has been no real positives this season so far. The signings were a waste of time.
