Watched Sportscene fae last night there and to me it looks like the Motherwell player has overreacted to get Watt sent off and both Kenny Miller and Michael Stewart said the tackle bearly merited a yellow with Michael Stewart adding that VAR should not watch stills of tackles to make a judgement.

Of course it shouldn't, but that's Scottish football for you. Amateur referees making amateur decisions.

I actually had a great view of it at the match, it was absolute nothing in real play, the ref had the best view. It's similar to the Edwards/Morelos incident a few seasons ago, footballers are now expected to run about with their arms behind their back in the box because that's the most 'natural way' your hands are when you run around, and you are now expected to stop your legs mid challenge after a ball has gone. You could freeze frame/replay an incident like the Watt one about dozen times each game and send about 6 players off. It's almost same principle of those free kicks you see full backs win every game when they clear the ball and kick in to the studs of the striker who has tried to block the clearance then wriggle about like they've been shot.

That video might be genuine , the angle it is shot at makes it look bad. There are a few other angles. One from the other side, blown up, slowed down showing that just before contact would have been made, TW pulls his foot away and turns away from the tackle. There is no heavy contact at all ,which is what the ref thought immediately. (and he was close) he waved play on until VAR got involved

VAR officials should be looking at all angles and it doesn't seem right they then choose what the referee looks at. I understand there is time pressure involved but I'm sure all fans would prefer the on pitch referee gets all the information, not the limited set provided by the VAR official in the studio.
