I don’t think I’ve heard a minutes silence so badly observed at Notts. Really poor form.

Sounded horrendous on the TV constant shouting/booing.

No credit to either club, but it was a disgrace that the EFL imposed this on all clubs. As I remember it, the ref blew his whistle and the ground was silent for a few seconds before a Stags fan shouted "F*ck Palestine". This drew boos from Notts fans in the Kop, Stags fans retaliated and some in the Kop started chanting "W@nkers" in response. It was an embarrassment and did the exact opposite of what it was meant to do.

My question is why did it take place? Why does a middle east war have any connection to a Notts v Mansfield game? Why does football need to be involved? The death of innocents over there is appalling, but what has it got to do with an EFL League 2 game?

Unless it was a Stags fan in The Kop you are wrong. **** Palestine came from behind me and to my right…

Good point Elite. The football powers seem obsessed with demonstrating empathy for any and every conflict.
You used to have a minutes silence once in a blue moon. Now its every week.

But I would suggest many "religious" people have very little understanding of the basis of their beliefs as they are likely to have been indoctrinated throughout their lifetime.

A study of the history of Muhammed gives much insight.
Faith in something you can't see touch or feel is exactly what the zealots want. It how they control you.

I think that holding a minute's silence at a football match should only be for a death related to either of the teams playing, a national tragedy, or the death of a national figure. Otherwise it can become pointless virtue signalling and doesn't help victims in any way.
