What was clear yesterday is that the players are fully behind him and that speaks volumes. They've got a better idea than we do about what's going on and they've decided to back him rather than ostracise him.

I’d say again that two wrongs don’t make a right. Using a ‘worse’ bad thing to justify a ‘lesser bad one isn’t the way to go. Whether Joelinton’s was worse or not? It depends how you measure it. Financial damage to the club? Deceiving tens of thousands of people? Causing difficulty with FFP play rules to make it harder for the club to push on? I could go on.

How many people have been killed from illegal betting?

Do you support Joelinton... would you cheer him if he scored.. did you state the disrespect to the public of England and especially the public in and around Newcastle where he was driving was there to be seen?

Or is the fact that Newcastle United didn't suffer so its all ok?

I can check through your posts around Joelinton on here for that particular event to see how much disdain you had for him at the time...

People make mistakes.. I would 100% say Joelinton's is worse than Tonali's.. tell me I'm wrong?
It's not a fair comparison although i get where you are coming from.

The Joelinton one seemed different because it didn't appear calculated or planned, whereas Tonali's did.I don't care less about the actual betting. Betting on your own team to win is hardly morally repulsive. I actually think the punishment coming his way is harsh if thats all he did (I think he used an illegal platform etc).

How drunk was Joelinton? For more context, how many people have died in car collisions where drink or drugs was not involved?
The logic being applied to Joelinton would mean no one should ever drive again.

Joelinton was a prat for doing it, but he didn't intend to harm Newcastle United or anyone else. That doesn't make it ok.

Tonali planned this **** (it appears), which is why I am so angry about it. I will of course reassess my view if further information comes to light that contradicts my current opinion.

Milan must have know. These sort of things don't just come up without any history.

Look at the situation with Ivan Toney, all of the football world in this country were aware for ages.

Seriously?? It doesnt matter.. no one should be drinking and driving..

I get that some people may have different views on the whole Tonali thing.. but he is 23 years old... he turned 23 in May.. so 22 or younger when this betting happened...

22... how many stupid things did you do at 22 because I know how daft I was..

He has made a mistake, he won't be the first or the last Newcastle player to make a mistake either.. he gets his punishment and we move on..

Joey Barton went to jail whilst playing for us........ he is loved by most Newcastle fans.. he also was banned for 18 month for illegal betting

So... thats Joelinton, Trippier and Barton off the top of my head who all broke the law.. Lets not forget Ghadoussi ... but it is Tonali who gets the most flack?

If you don't want to support him then don't, it is your prerogative but you also need to hold others with the same disdain when they do something illegal..

Can I ask you a serious question?

    Which is worse:

    Illegal betting
    Drink Driving
    Assault and Affray
Human Right Atrocities in Saudi Arabia

4,2,3,1 in order. Number 4 is a whole different discussion and shouldn't come into this debate.

I know I might get flack when I say this but I don't care about the illegal betting at all. I care more about the non disclosure of it when we signed him but for all we know it was disclosed and kept quiet.

I support him and the club. There are much worse things going on in the world to get upset about.

I would agree with this order also. And as an aside, with regards to drink driving, stats show that approximately 10% of accidents are due to drink driving, would therefor the computer or perhaps A.I. show that if you then ban all sober drivers you would prevent 90% of road accidents.
