My young lass had offers from 4 universities so if you have the qualifications you get the offers.
Some on this board just feel the need to argue to suit their narrative.
I'm just amazed nelms hasn't been blamed yet.

So firstly you acknowledge that your original comment was wrong, by now saying that there are more places for Scottish kids. Giving comment on the quality of the universities is an entirely different thing, and I suspect you're not qualified to judge that.
Secondly, the increase in non-EU students is counter balanced by the difficulties getting EU students since Brexit. Can you explain why having more non EU in that balance is an issue?
Thirdly, the change from techs to universities (like Abertay) is positive for many poorer kids who were rejected by the old elitist system or who need to study in their home town because moving is too expensive. They have a far better pathway for jobs and the only people who don't like it are the old anti-working class elitists because it gives poorer people a chance.
For me, a working class kid gaining a university degree in a practical and useful subject is a far better use of resource than some jumped up fancy Dan getting a degree in some made up art subject then a job in daddies company.

Because he's an incurable snob living in an age gone by. His father was a PE teacher which makes him better than my father who was 'only' a jute mill foreman. This in turn makes Islay, who is a retired Banker (SIC), with a Bachelor degree from a real university better than me because I'm only a common Quality Manager with a Masters from RGU.
Snobbery of the very highest order from a total bigot who believes women should be restricted to the kitchen and anyone non white should be sent home. No wonder I get angry at his nonsensical ramblings.
Of course everyone's entitled to speak freely - unless you're offending one the unoffendables of course. However I don't agree with snobbery, misogyny or racism and part of being able to speak freely is being able to call these things out. Sadly Islay, whether consciously or unconsciously, regularly shows traits of all three.
OK. It always seems to me that calling anyone names isn't as effective as explaining the error of their arguments. EG Debunked gives evidence that more native Scots are in tertiary education. Islay was wrong on that specific point, but the unis themselves are very worried about there reliance on their funding model that is based on very low levels of funding for Scottish students and high fees for students from countries that are rapidly increasing the performance of their home grown universities. Scottish students fees are paid by all taxes and it should be a concern about the dependence of revenues from non Scottish students. That's a rational economic argument and not in any way anti immigrant, or racist, imo.
