The next phase was like something out of a comedy story and we eventually ended up with God knows what number choice and he inevitably went the way of the previous incumbent.
Like a few others, I don't like the idea of going back but Evans did seem like the best choice given the state the club was in at the time of his appointment and the remit that TS wanted him to fulfil.
I want him to succeed because I like my club to do well. I don't understand why some seem to want the opposite.
If it doesn't work out I think a realistic option who may fancy the challenge, would try to play attractive football and bring about some stability would be Charlie Adam.
He speaks well and gives the impression that he doesn't suffer fools gladly........although that may make him too strong a character for TS.

Charlie Adam best I could see we could get. Sooner the better! Scott needs to go also.

Any name we logically should be able to attract, insert reason why they're poor (not proven, wrong style of football, take your pick). It's easy to bat them away because you just throw any single reason rather than look at Evans against that manager and discuss the wider ramifications.

I'm neither on or off the Evans bus. I've been open minded and offered balance when anyone has been staunchly for/against him being here, but there are facts too. We weren't his first choice - there was noise last season but he wanted to stay where he was - he became available when his last job ran to a failed attempt to get up. He's been a part of poor recruitment/retention. As someone has said, there are positives in the players we have, but that isn't the whole picture. We've got poor first line cover in some roles, and we have some sub-par players who should be operating in League 2. He's behaved badly with opposing managers and not giving away fans a clap. And we look like we're still ages away from any sort of decent, consistent football being played.

I'm not going to boo, chant for him to go, sit around anxiously waiting for him to go - the team comes first and I'll back them until my number's up. But I'm realistic about what we're looking at. He wasn't brought in as part of a longer term plan - recruitment shows that - so he is here because TS believes he can get us up (or conspiracy theories about cashing in). That's highly unlikely right now. It takes us back though, and does make it more difficult to recruit going forward. Younger, intelligent managers with any sort of ambition would have already been put off by MT and LR getting no time (especially in LR's case who inherited the mother of toxic messes), and there will always be noise about TS's behaviour which we'll likely never confirm - but bringing back a 'character' in the hope of being a cobbled-together, rags-to-riches story, what sort of manager wants to follow that? No patience from the chairman and a team full of misfits, SE hurts the recruitment for our next manager too, whenever that happens.

FWIW, Lowe, and especially Wild... really? Where should we look? Rotherham and District?

A good post. My thinking on this is Evans is great for TS, did TS expect to be 21st after 6 games? No and he knows that needs to improve.
TS will be quite happy if we finish between 7th and 12th, playing entertaining football that gets people through the door, whilst keeping costs down and reducing the player legacy that was created by RS and MT (32% drop in playing staff this summer). You know what, with a decent FA cup run and perhaps final of the EFL Trophy we would all take that now.

I wouldn't trust a word that comes out of PDs (based on a personal experience with him) or SEs mouth, but their job is to deflect any criticism away from the Stewart family. No other manager on earth would suck up publicly to the Stewarts like Evans does, and they love it, which rich and successful person doesn't like a sycophant?
The only way SE will leave is if he takes us down or he walks out, he knows that and so he can come out and call the fans stupid and BS us all because he is sat in a safe place.

In all honesty, I can see a situation - because of the relationship they appear to have - where SE has a completely bang average run and then gets a move upstairs. It looks from the outside as if he's using the name-dropping and fantastical experiences to tell TS how football clubs should operate, and unless he sees a long future bouncing around (no pun intended) clubs, taking them up from L1/L2, I can see him talking down recruitment, operations, etc to make that a reality - he clearly has no issue with making damaging comments if they serve him well. His demeanour (and comments about not being actively involved with training) this time around might indicate he sees himself more as a 'sayer' than a 'doer' these days.

Again, I dont disgree with your assessment of the club but avoiding to answer the question becasue you can't think of a better credible manager who we could attract just proves my point!

I'm sure with his experience and contacts he'll know how to use a lift.
