[QUOTE=KCNotts;40710851]Brian Priske... Surely it couldn't be?
He has only ever lasted 2 years at each club & less at Feyernoord who got rid due to inconsistency

Very relieved the club has seen sense but it also seems like a sad end to a really deflating waste of a season.

Not our most obvious 'sacking' but absolutely necessary. It feels like he was hung out to dry a bit by the club with the silence around the Saunders? departure, the lack of replacements and (another) disastrous January window but he remained professional and dignified even though there were times when he probably could?ve said more. That said the squad is capable of far better in spite of its weaknesses and there was no sign he would turn things around next year.
Providing we get it right this time you?d hope there?s less chance of key players wanting to move on.

It?s been said by some posters that the club wrote the season off in January & that?s probably true. If so, it worries me a bit that this is a trend ? if something throws a spanner in the works mid season again are we just going to keep on the same course and take the easy option or actually fill short term gaps which might not figure in the long term picture?

?While football is a game of fine margins, and Stuart undoubtedly faced numerous challenges over the course of the campaign, neither results nor performances reached the levels we believe the team was capable of - particularly during the defining period towards the end.

?In the near future we will provide a comprehensive update to supporters, offering more of our own reflections on the 2024-25 campaign while also outlining our approach to next season and beyond.

?Alongside our recently-appointed Head of Football, Roberto Gagliardi, our work is well underway to identify the correct coaching team and new signings to join us on these important next steps of our journey.

?We are highly optimistic about the club?s future and remain as committed as ever to helping Notts County achieve its immense potential.?
A good statement. It kind of suggests that they weren't happy for a while, but saw it through for his sake anyway. It also doesn't mess about with saying they're going to be transparent on their views for the season just gone, so maybe it might give some understanding what happened to the coaching team and what the overall analysis was on certain players and manager.

A really good thing to notice is the mention of coaching team as I think that we would have been poorer if we'd have gone up and tried to slot in a coaching team around him.

It isn't true. They said the goal was promotion and I believe them.
They might not have put all their chips in or gone about it particularly well, but I don't doubt their intention.

I never boo our own team/managers, but I'd make an exception for him if he came back.

Personally I think the owners have been extremely astute regarding this. Not providing coaching support after the other brothers were shown the door, knowing there was still an outside chance of promotion but let it pan out. If we go up then take another look at the coaching set up, if we don't then Maynard has done enough to sack himself given the resources at his disposal.

Also, Another season in a much weaker L2, even More so than this one, a chance to build again but with stronger building blocks in place, should be a shoe in for auto's next season if recruit properly so gates will be maintained etc. . . or, promoted by the skin of our teeth, possibility of struggling next season, win even less games than this season, crowds start to drop etc.

No panic, just calm, measured and assured decision making in protecting their overall investment.

He's only last 2 years at clubs cos he kept getting bigger jobs (apart from Feyenoord). He won the Danish league in his first season. He won the league 2 years running at Sparta Prague. They finished 16 points off the top this year, after he left.

Absolutely not a chance in hell he's coming here.

I wouldnt call letting our most creative attacking midfielder go plus not replacimg him and leaving the head coach with no help as astute.
