He did do rather better (68 at number 6) in the County Championship match against Surrey. Considering how low his confidence must have been, that's quite impressive.

I hope Farhad Ahmed and Freddy McCann cope well with the expectations they've just set.

Lancs all out for 140 not long after lunch on day 1 of their match. Meanwhile, Notts are bubbling along nicely at 195-0, thanks to a ton from Ben Slater, a 50 from the captain and a rather generous 24 no-balls from the hosts.

    Yeah!

I was beginning to think the follow-on decision had badly misfired - what do I know?

Lancashire look certain to win their game, which I think means it all goes "down to the wire".

The Manchester rain isn't forecast tomorrow, so a Lancashire win would leave Notts with a 15 point lead going into the final games next week. The only realistic results that would see Notts relegated are a Lancashire win away at Worcestershire and a Notts defeat at home to Warwickshire. A draw should see us safe.

Hopefully plenty of rain around because I can see Lancs upping their game and beating Worcester. And Warwickshire are a tidy outfit. Justice will see Notts relegated and newell/moores on their way. Staying up would just paper over the cracks

Warwickshire have only won one game all season, they lost by an innings last time out. Notts could relegate them by winning if Lancashire win as well, assuming Somerset finish their bottle job first.

I was pleased to see that former Notts all-rounder Joey Evison had a good match. I was sorry he left.

I think Warwick are the cricket equivalent of Notts' bogey team. We always seem to be 5hit against them.
