A few of cracking pictures of Pittodrie in it too, including one of Hibs game with over 40k squeezed in with folk sitting up on the roof of the Merkland. I can't even begin to get my head around all those folk turning up for an Aberdeen game and I know that was not even our record crowd. There is also another with a hell of a lot of car park spaces next to it.

Most grounds are covered in it and some good stories to be found at most grounds. A couple of pictures of East End Park in the late 60s, where after a huge Celtic support entered all the crush barries had simply gave way to the pressure and had been buckled out of shape. Which seems to have been a regular occurrence back then.

A story in the Arbroath section that Rangers complained the Arbroath pitch was not quite the right size after Arbroath had beat them in the cup, with the lichties getting kicked out. Me thinks the scum wouldn't have complained if they had won the game.
I remember being at that Hibs game in '67 - a cup replay on a Wednesday night and it was pay at the gate! Must have been at the ground around 6pm for a (proper) KO time of 7:30.

A strange book if being honest as it tells of his life and fitba career, mainly the dons and all good, but then goes off into the realms of business speak and how motivation from the game is used in business, which is not really my thing.

Needed a better proofreader too. Some glaring errors scattered throughout.
After speaking to him yesterday prematch I think i'll give his book a miss. He was signing copies of it yesterday in hospitality and trying to plug it. He chatted away with us for a while and laid out his medals on our table in a 4,4,2 formation.

    Budgie. The John Burridge Autobiography.

Cost me 10p in a charity shop.

    Usual footballer fare.

He was a bit of a mercenary when it came to money. He doesn't like political correctness and Britain has gone to the dogs and he's better off out of it.

Did like reading his thoughts on Alex Miller though, the most pessimistic manager in football.

Was also nice to hear Budgie decked him.

He played one game for Dumbarton, away at Brechin. My mate was the sub goalie that day & he said that Budgie jumped on the bus with his headphones on, didn’t speak to anyone and had his head bopping away the whole journey.

Curiosity got the better of my mate & he nipped out at half time to find out what tunes Budgie was listening to. Turns out it was a recording he’d made of himself saying things like ‘your box is your home and any striker in it should be treated like a burglar…break their backs…nothings getting by you today…’

Don’t think he’s wired up right

He nearly topped himself once he finally hung up his gloves. He couldn't cope without it.

    He didn't take any prisoners.
At the Skol cup final in 91, which Hibs won. Miller told his players how good Rangers were and what each hun would do to them. No encouragement given to the Hibs team.
He told Burridge, Hateley would come at him all elbows and try to kill him
He told Miller he would kill Hateley first and started fighting with them in the tunnel before the game.

Makes you think what could have been in May 91, if Burridge was between the sticks at Ibrox that day.

They did win but it was against Dunfermline. That Bertie Big B0llocks Tommy McIntyre scored

They played the Huns at Celtic Park the same year we did in the SC Final. Still can’t believe we lost that one

Budgie was some boy. Even in the 90s he looked like someone from the 70s.
Had that weird build that often seems to suit some goalies like Goram/Neville etc

One of my pet peeves is subs not ready to come on - can’t hang that on Budgie.
I remember one game where Stillie (maybe?) got injured and Burridge was up waiting on the touchline almost before he even hit the deck.
As it was he was ok and Budgie trumped back to his seat dejected.

Got impression even then he marched to a different drum. Fitba daft.

According to wiki he’s 72 and working for Kerala blasters. Christ knows what the locals think of him

Defended Goodwillie and ran as a tory candidate. What an utter c**t.

Once a Don always a Don - another one that mantra does not apply to.

Aye, meant to say they beat huns in the semi final.
