    Tell me this is sarcasm?

I think I prefer the idea of Cameron playing midfield than this idea. Doyle may well have been ‘available’, but does he really want to be playing? IB offered him time against Wrexham (when penalties were on the cards) and he refused.
If we are genuinely calling for a 40 plus year old to be the midfield general, a player who was past his best some time ago. Then we really are in big trouble.

That's the problem. In terms of what really matters, namely league position, we are still trending downwards.

As KTD stated when one or two things aren't working, aren't going well resulting in us not getting promoted it doesn't mean everything isn't working. This clear the decks, rip up the blueprint, "only keep a handful of players" complete rebuild every season after failure hasn't worked. I'm not sure I've seen it work.
On not getting promoted...Or would you sooner be happier with Notts being a sustainable club in the national League.????

I would rather Notts be a sustainable club in non league than a club that’s gone bust.
And that is in no way me saying I’m happy being in this league. I hate it!
    And the Doyle comment. Wow.
A guy in his 40’s that hasn’t kicked a ball in anger for nearly a year??? Any midfielder in the next two divisions down would run rings around him.

Well I imagine we aren't sustainable now, just a lot more sustainable aka can pay the milk bill. If the choice is national League club that is sustainably run with a medium/long term plan and a good chance of promotion each season or overspend get promoted to L2, run out of cash, sell the club to new owners and repeat. I would take the former. Both unsatisfactory scenarios but the boom and bust with far more bust than boom is not an option for me. That's what got us into this mess.

Right your turn when did recruit last 'work' for Notts 2009 (Munto)?

The question was about recruitment and the proof of it not working is not getting promotion. Which is far too simplistic to me, you may disagree.

We all know we want to trend upwards in league position to the point we achieve promotion. This is nothing new, this is a universal objective amongst the fanbase.

Promotion is the ultimate aim. The league table is the ultimate (single) barometer. We would prefer to win playing ugly than not win playing pretty. This is all well known and widely accepted.

Judging by he health of the club is a little more complex than just league position. If any club should know that it's us.

Recruitment has always been a bit of a lottery, apart from Munto the only other time we have succeeded in the transfer market was during the reign of Jimmy Sirrell. When we had the likes of Mair, O'Brien, Scanlon and Probert..

I wasn't calling for him to play on a regular basis, just to to be used when we were down to bare bones..

Thank you so the early 1970s. That's before I was born but would suggest during my lifetime we got it very right in 1989. It was definitely working then with some great signings.

Yes you are right. But in modern times you have to look to Accrington in Div. 1 who survive on crowds below 2000, but still seem to recruit decent players without spending any money. Could it be that they actually go and look at those players before making any signings, unlike us where we look at videos and analysis data ??
