It's noticeable that under the current ownership/management the club are far more inclined to retain players than in past years when "big clear-outs" became the norm at the end of each season, causing great instability and achieving nothing in terms of improvement, in fact quite the opposite.

The way we now play demands a high level of familiarity between the players, and it takes time to integrate new arrivals like Junior Morias into our system, but the benefits of giving players time to become rooted at the club have been obvious, not just in the cohesion of the team but the feeling that the core group of players really do have an affinity with the club. It could be key in persuading players like Cameron, Rodrigues and Nemane to stay with us on this journey.

My one major disappointment with the retained list is that Frank Vincent isn't on it. I think he was good enough to warrant a new contract and could really have grown under Luke Williams' tutelage, but you have to trust that if the club are willing to let a player as good as him go, they must have a really good replacement lined up. It's a shame, because FV is a real livewire whose enthusiasm was infectious to others when he played.

Obviously all the players already signed up or potentially signed up must be absolutely delighted with the sesosn and rightly so. But I was thinking the other day after watching Junior Morias reactions post the final penalty kick and he must be absolutely buzzing.

Joins a club, whilst injured, going for promotion very late in the season who have faith in him as shown by the contract length. He barely gets a kick due to said injury and the form of a settled side and boom he finds himself back where he wants to be as an EFL footballer.

Turns out we didn't need him for the run in, and it was fine to sign him for the future aka next season. Let's hope he grabs the opportunity with both hands when given the chance.

I don’t think the decision to let Vinny go was down to ability. In fact LW statement about the player was one of admiration. However, LW admitted that Vinny needs more game time so that he can fulfil his potential, something he can’t guarantee at Notts.

Also depends on who they are bringing in. If he cant get a regular place in this years team what would you expect a division up, especially if/when we strengthen further.
