LWs stint at Swindon tough, he had an owner and Tim Sherwood far too involved to a point they were picking the team at one point and with relegation there’s always a fall guy, he’ll get it right.
I don’t think we were lucky last season, you don’t get 107 points being lucky, we had no right to even be close to Wrexham with their transfer fees and wage budget. The budget is what it is, I would hope by Jan we have more than 2% chance.
We certainly weren't lucky with 107 points but we were lucky with getting away with such a small squad. (As shown by this season)

No we weren't lucky with 107. Each and every one was a well worked goal (probably not all but...). But we are definitely feeling the effects of a small squad. Is it in LW to think "Let's score one and not concede" and set up accordingly? (Even in the short term).

Definitely an option. In the possession based sides the strikers are getting more isolated than ever, Hallands a key example he scored a shed load last season but much was made of the little amount of touches he had. He’s against better opposition too but he’s got 14 odd goals I think and we’re not half way. I guess one question is how does he feel about it? Is he demotivated or is he just happy banging in goals. I’m less worried about that end, we will always score goals with the current players regardless of where we put them to a certain extent.

Sorry 1955 slightly miss read your post. Yes we did ok with injuries last season but I guess we had the all season option of bringing in players. I agree it was risky and we’ve paid for it big time coupled with some players struggling with the level. If we can get to Jan still in the playoffs then I think we have done well and just use it as a learning. We have to remember the owners are new to this division and they won’t get everything right, I’m sure their seeing everything we are and are as frustrated as some of us but let’s face it, it could be worse.

That's about where I'm at. We've done really well so far, but now the squad is stretched to the limit and needs good additions in January if we are to maintain the good start. We are at a crossroads, and the direction we take is heavily dependant on the radar.

IMO Macca is an out and out goal scorer and a consummate pro, I am positive he would be more than happy to try something that might give him more scoring opportunities.

I agree with you matt. January and still thereabouts.
I think this is an excellent thread. Very philosophical in parts with no real histrionics by anyone. I think a touch of realism has set in by all.
