The most obvious difference between Duff and Collins is how Duff had his group well schooled in shutting games down when we were ahead .

Even at Oakwell with a two goal lead he'd often just have them killing the game stone dead and if we added to the score fair enough but if we didn't then so be it .

Funny thing is he had a better defence than we have right now but that's the way Duff rolled , very much the results based percentage HC .

Looking back with the benefit of hindsight he was the ideal HC for that play off semi final against Bolton when he completely strangled the way Bolton played .

You really wouldn't want to or at least I wouldn't want to see ourselves v Peterborough in the second leg of a play off semi final and that kind of game we saw last night repeated .

Neutrals would love it but not for me .

Step up Parekh and bring in an experienced defensive leader. Spectemur Agendo mi owd.[/QUOTE]

He is definitely going to have to step up.
I posted on another platform that we could lose 8 or nine of the first team squad in January.
If the bids come in are low and the board are torn, settling for a bigger sale at lower prices, rather than a couple of higher incoming values ( as most expect). coupled with loan recalls, or sales by their parent clubs, we could lose a good number.
A good compo offer other clubs may think is reasonable for Jalo at his age would be less than a million…. So with Styles playing poor, williams getting poor reviews and Mcatee not being ours, theres a lot of eggs in the basket of Devante Cole.
I can see a good few leaving, just to balance the books….Lets hope the recruitment have some real gems up their sleeves. Either now, or when the exodus happens in May

    Without even including Mcart…..

    Williams..Going.
    Kane…. Going
    Mcatee. Sold by parent club.
Robert’s, recall or parent club sells.
    Cadden. Wants more game time.
Luca…. Our prize asset ( not Styles).
    Cole… “bigger than Barnsley”
Styles…. Can’t take the chance of another LG one season..I make that 8…
    Jalo??? =9

Genuine question Jules , are you in the know or are these your guesses ? I say this because in the thread about Mcatee you said he was definitely going elsewhere & by saying definitely then I assume you know which club he is going to , so come on spill the beans & tell us where he is going.

Don’t fret Jules we have unpolished gems to return…
Dallas - can’t get a game in Scotland
    Shaw - ditto above
    Candy
    McCarthy

    The future is bright.

Got to admire your faith Shads.
If Jules knows owt - owt at all - I’ll show mi ar@e etc etc etc.

Shads - you are about to enter the biannual doom mongers jamboree.
It will sometimes be scary but it is always entertaining.

You cannot beat a bit of spec to provide some entertainment , last january my mate told me that Williams to Preston was signed sealed & delivered in a £400 k deal as he knew this was definitely over the line , 12 months on I see Williams is on his way again , we will see .

“He is here as a commodity to sell. But it will most definitely not be to us”

Those were indeed my words Shads, I am not “in the know”. Just looking at predicting how the next few weeks could de-rail the progress based on our previous five, six or seven seasons transfer windows. I am no way knocking the players progress this season. Not a fan of Collins, but these players individually have all had good games bad games and some excellent ones. All worth something in some other clubs mixes.
The thing is, I am realistic, in that other clubs have assets playing with us i.e.
    Mcatee, Mcart.
Jalo is a young ambitious man, Cole has a chance to play in the championship perhaps. Cadden isn’t getting passed to, nor a good run.

Perhaps pessimistic…l ( the club have done that to me…) but a scenario where we NEED financial input, and other clubs knowing our a.rses are out of our clarts could see a few more sold than some predict.

A great price for Cole or Styles would maybe avoid the other low price sales….But with some players probably wanting away at any price as well (Williams, Kane perhaps?) the club may have to sell more for cheper, than a couple at a high price

The January window is often quieter than anticipated.

The ones in the selling plate race that may attract a bid as they walk the parade ring, in my opinion not a fact, are--

Styles--From an Hungarian international stud background paraded to bidders at well below release clause price. "Make us an offer" says owner Parekh.

Cole--showed good form early season and a leading EFL goal scorer. From a good stable. His trainer Andrew may wish to see him in better class races

Williams--has attracted interest before and a cheeky bid may well see him at new stables. Has not run as well this season with a new jockey on board.

The main owner and trainer at the Grove St Stables, overseas based Prince Parekh, has said there is not much money around this January having built up a stock of colts for future seasons. He may need to sell before he can buy any new additions.
