Last season… we were constantly losing players to injury, that excused them not looking like they knew where their team mates would be, as it changed so often and players weren’t on the training ground.

This season, no real excuse, no new players really and the only one that is new is Kelly who knows Eddie and Eddie knows… so no genuine reason why we look like we haven’t got a clue when it come to playing as a team.

See how it’s leading into Dec, but I’m not sure how much of this is Mitchell and how much is the England job.
Mitchell? Nothing to do with him, I’d say. As for the England job, EH said he’s happy where he is (not sure what else is needed to be said to convince some people).

Do you think we played well all season when we qualified for CL? There were waves of good and bad form.

Yes, because the wheels will come off at somepoint, and I think players like Isak and Bruno and Gordon… and Barnes and Tonali and Botman will all prefer to be at a club that is evidently good rather that lucky.

We have more than enough good players to be playing better football than we are… we’ve continued the sh!te style of football from last season without the missing players to explain it.

From the Jan after Eddie took over and the end of his first season, we played good football, with an easily identifiable style of play… high pressure and hard work… we looked like a team with an identity.

Last season (understandably) and this season so far (not understandably) we’ve looked all to sea, and as guilty of lacking cohesiveness and a playing style as ETH’s Man Utd… but at least they won a trophy… and with arguably worse players each season they won them.

So, all of our best players will want to leave if we’re 3rd at Xmas? Righto.

Well if you ignore the part where I say the wheels will eventually come off leading into that I guess you can focus on that part 🤦*♂️

    Hmmm....
I can see both sides of this - but I prefer to be as optimistic as I can.
For me, two extremes are possible. Either:
    1. The team continues to play poorly, without cohesion, not looking totally up for it. The luck runs out, and we plummet down the table.
    2. The tream is totally buoyed up by being 3rd in the table whilst not really firing, and starts to deliver their full potential. We are still in a CL place by Christmas.
Other, in-between scenarios are clearly possible..........

I'm still inclined to think that we will overcome the present difficulty - whatever it might be.
Knowing us, we'll struggle to assert ourselves against Fulham and Wimbledon, then play City off the park!!!

And on current form, beat Fulham and Wimbledon despite being **** then lose to City after playing them off the park

Exactly, we knew what we were about and we had a style of play and could see it happening on the pitch… we had something to buy into and see it happen in front of our eyes.

Last season it was understandably hit and miss with injuries, but truth is the football was also pretty sh!t… culminating with the 3 games against Bournemouth, Forest and Everton.

This season I’m seeing no identity (which is why I compare us to ETH’s team) and we have pretty much a full squad as any club in the Prem has.

Also… anyone pointing to us being third in the table… Soton, Bournemouth, Spurs, Wolves… we’ve got a lot better opposition to play.
