Very strange..... Contract already signed (seemingly) yet they are now willing to pay 300k more to get him now???
Wasn't aware of many other big clubs chappin' on the door.
Don't care really , add-ons, appearances, caps etc can only fill our coffers if the latest "news" is correct.
Shame really , it could have been another successful United story....
Another thing to note from this situation is that this is the first time that the new administration has dealt with another Club selling one of our players. If this £500k figure is true then that is a fantastic piece of business and in contrast to the previous short sighted greed of the Snake, augers well for how they’ll deal with future transfers.
Good point, never thought about it that way, but if true , that's great.
Hopefully in future this might be the way we deal with losing players, (if you want them, you know the script)
Without going over old ground yet again (for too long) We were horrendous in dealing with nearly everything in those days. Something seems to have changed (thank funk) but it's been a long time coming.
In fairness, without knowing thé full background, u can argue in the opposite that we have possibly missed out on a bigger fee by not signing him up on an extension last season. 500k in circumstances seems remarkable.
I'm a wee bit concerned at losing Stanton. Thought he was a decent player and always tried. Scored a couple of crucial goals last month too and I think we were starting to see the best of him.
Maybe with Powers coming in we need to free up a wage. But personally I would probably kept Stanton involved for the rest of the season. He's definitely contributed to where we are placed now.
I’m not so sure it’s to do with freeing up a wage OA. I suspect Stanton’s been told he’ll not be kept on at the end of the season and an opportunity has arisen for him that the Club won’t stand in the way of. He gets my very best wishes as he has certainly done his part this season and at least can leave knowing that after three years of scheite he’s done his bit to get us back to where we belong.
A’ the best Sam!![]()
On Hibs forum someone said they heard he wanted more than we were offering, Neilson called their bluff.
Plausible, ethier way it's a shame but we move on
