Mcmullen is good player and i knew it would be a mistake letting him go. Never mind letting him transform our rivals season "BuT hE cAnT CrOsS a BaLl"
Id say that looked more like a MM decision rather than a TA.
We need someone with that pace in our forward line again, hopefully we are seeing this as one of our big weaknesses and will be addressing it.
Just going on last season alone id say we most definitely could have done with him in our team. And he made a massive difference to them across the road. We should have replaced him by now though
Agree with this, playing in the championship and in a team with Charlie who is better than your standard championship creative midfielder was a perfect storm.
I like the derbies and would prefer both stay in this league (at expense of Livvy) but if the Fun think Charlie and Paul are the answer, the Q must have been what players do the Fun think will be found at out the most at premiership level
Couldn't agree more with both your posts, I knew it would be a mistake as well and said so at the time, not that I am overrating him (it's not like he is anywhere near the quality of a Conway or GMS at the same age) as he has plenty flaws that are highlighted but he is tricky, offers something different and it was a frustrating that he never got a chance last season after being out injured and we persevered with the hopeless Bolton instead
He was a key part of the championship winning side and was at a good age and experience level, he just needed a run of games last season to see how hey got on at Prem level, especially once we went four at the back, felt he deserved that, hopefully he is crap at Prem level this season right enough
Bad news GB. The Fun have just signed the prolific 32 year old Cillian Sheridan. 7 goals in the last 2.5 years. This is surely going to result in a few more assists coming McMullans way.
The Dees I personally think are being too loyal to the team that got them up via playoffs. For the majority of last season they were struggling in and around the playoffs, never got anywhere near Hearts (finished 12pts behind) and managed to get form by the end of the season to finish 2nd. They done well to get up via the playoffs (we know how hard that is) so credit where it's due.
but that still doesn't hide the fact that the majority of their squad was average in the Championship. How will they cope against better players. They have a few stand out players who will be decent for them but the main bulk of their squad have no experience in the Prem or havent played in the Prem for a good few years. Showing loyalty to guys like McGowan, Kerr, Fontaine and co will not get them very far imo.
At least when we showed loyalty to the Championship winning team we had ran away with the title and were the best team in the division.
Oh ya Sheridan is like Brian Graham now nice target for mcmullans crosses- but those crosses will hit the corner flag
