die with dignity.
Shame on Donald Trump who is involved for political reasons.
Shame on The Pope who is involved because he believes that life is so precious that it must be preserved at any cost.
Shame on many of those who signed the petition to keep Charlie suffering.
Shame on the USA medical specialist who is offering to experiment on Charlie.
I feel for the parents who are so grief stricken and have been so influenced that they cannot make rational decisions.
My heart bleeds for poor Charlie..
Let him die!!.......That's the love that he deserves not an extension of a life of severe brain damage and likely suffering.
I trust this judge,I trust that tomorrow he will make the correct decision in spite of all the pressure that has been put on him.
When he gives that decision tomorrow I urge Great Ormond Street to turn off Charlie's life support the following day after allowing his parents to say goodbye.
Yes I agree grist..
I did try and show some sympathy with the parents which indeed I have but I do think they seem a touch strange lets say but after saying that it's a very sad situation for them.
Great Ormond street have taken the decision off their shoulders but they are choosing to burden themselves again forever which will laden them with a life time of guilt.
Very very sad and all the do gooders will simply walk away leaving their destruction to someone else.
Kempo I'm with you on this post as I've followed the case for some time.
The US specialist who wants to 'experiment' on the poor child is purely for higher profile gain and nothing else. The poor mite is severely brain damaged.
Let's say there is a 1% improvement what kind of non existent lifestyle can the child enjoy?
The parents themselves will have a 24 hour bubble lifestyle and who would want that for the rest of their lives? Yes there are dedicated people out there caring for loved ones with severe disability needs and you have to admire them but this baby is hooked up to a whole ray of machines keeping him alive.
It is truly heartbreaking for the parents and my heart goes out to them.
It is a horrible, impossible position for the parents. They cannot be seen to do anything but fight now that they have the weight of expectation of all those that have donated and those that have signed the petition.
GOSH has some of the best medics in the world and now there decision and expertise is being questioned. It is they who are asking for the courts to make the call.
I would fight tooth and nail to save my kids but I would be under the guidence of those who know best. I think that every parents have asked themselves the question 'what if'. However us fortunate ones cannot put ourselves in the positions of anyone who has taken on the sometimes mammoth task of looking after a handicapped child.
They have my sympathy and I hope the judge makes the right decision. Don't forget the judge will have to live with what is basically passing a death sentence if he decides to allow Charlie to pass away piecefully.
I wouldn't swap places with the judge for any amount of money.
The parents are also clinging on to any hope as all parents should, I don't know enough about the subject so whatever the outcome I don't think anyone should be judged
Simple test.
If it was your kid ?
I knew a lady who had a certain Cancer and had bad news from the UK practicioners. She was computer mad and she placed her note on the Webb and low and behold Canada Cancer experts sent her their experimental treatment and she presented these to our Cancer specialists.
She got better !
I truely hope the outcome can be the same lbj. Charlie has severe brain damage and is blind. He can't move his limbs and is being kept alive by machines. The most important thing is the news channels have all said that Charlie isn't suffering. The outlook isn't good though.
Good luck to them all
Cancer is different to brain damage. I feel for the poor parents, but they are understandably not able to be objective or realistic. People in positions of authority (Trump, Pope, Media) undermining the medical professionals and giving false hope in a shameless attempt to get some publicity is abhorrent.
Kempo is right, the poor kid should be allowed to die with dignity. This drawn out affair is beyond futile, we treat suffering animals better than we do suffering humans.
My dad died of cancer. He was 74 when he died, so he back of the cue for any treatment. He died painlessly. When they told me he only had months to live, I just wanted him to go feeling no pain. He had basically cancer of the throat. I've known 3 people personally young enough to have treatment for the same type of cancer. All the 3 had operations, took another part of the body for there jaw bone. All 3 died. When they have that operation it disfigures them. If there is ever a cure for cancer it's not through an operation.
