With nothing much else going on Notts wise, it seems fitting to reminisce on that beautiful Wembley day.
I’m sure the game details have been poured over meticulously on here. But the emotion is something totally different to describe.
As Scott strode from the half way line for his penalty, I could feel my emotions heighten. The tears were swelling. My brother, not an overtly emotionally man, popped his sunglasses on (I knew what that meant) and my old man’s eyes were so wide as he looked on. As Scott spotted the ball and stepped back, I went. The tears came. Not uncontrollably, but they came. As Scott slotted his penalty in, I completely went. I grabbed (bear hugged) my brother and could feel him as emotional as me. Dad piled in from the other side and we were all in tears. That moment was pure bliss.
I’ve always wanted to see Notts win at Wembley with those two. A year ago today that was realised and it was even better than I could have imagined. Absolutely unreal.
I often wonder what people who don’t have football in there life miss because of that.

I enjoyed that video. Really enjoyed Slocombe’s moment of clarity and words on the owners prior to, what I imagine was a decent night.
That was a day that ran the full range of emotions. Traffic was awful on the way down which didn’t help the nerves, but a joyous hour in Boxpark lifted my spirits. Once we kicked off I didn’t enjoy the game at all, far too much at stake. Until Cedwyn’s penalty went in, then it was pure elation and sheer relief in equal measures. A day I’ll never forget.
The whole of the two playoff games was insane - we really didn't play that well, eh? Like 270 minutes of torture.
I remember one of the BT.S commentators saying (after Notts narrowly avoided conceding for the ump****th time due to a suicidal defending mix-up) & paraphrasing: "How on earth do the Notts fans bear this week-in, week-out"
I thought, blimey you hit the bulls eye there, mate. Gawd knows.
But in the end, wouldn't have swapped it for (well, almost) anything... COYP!!
Amazing memories from those two games, but bloody hell ...
