    re: Who recalls this ...

Christ mate I got loads of those programmes in the loft from the 71/72 season onwards

As for Burnden, I've got great memories of being on there when it was packed - Newcastle (FA Cup), Everton (League Cup Semi), Sunderland (Big sam's header) - but I grew to hate the place - Normid, putting away fans in the segregated bit of the Burnden Paddock and Stand - it became a sad, p1ss-smelling sh1thole and in the Div 3/4 days I stopped going to home games, only going to away matches - even in those days others clubs grounds were better than ours!!

i must confess , that i too have some old programmes mate , 5p they were & 2p on bus ( from kearsley ) 25p in lever end ...

i always loved burnden me , Malcom mcdonald goal for newcastle & big sams header , frankies goal etc ..getting to wembely & beating wigan in the 2nd leg at burnden , george best / rodney marsh ( both playing for fulham ) ..sadly no what u mean about the embankment , recall those fecking nor pigs ..?

i recall grimsby coming down once ( they had feck off massive inflatable fish ..? ) i got nicked at that game & stuck in the back of a van with some bloke who had his fish under his arm ! not what you expect to see while being chukced in back of police van eh
& as bad as it was at burden , honest mate they were plenty of grounds worse than ours ...honest !
