... ok i961pie ... applying some degree of wokeness means that I should grovel an apology to our lefty friends; so, 'sorry' if I have offended. Perhaps you lefties would do a little better if you weren't so gullible about the EU and the Civil Service - if only you knew how the champagne socialists laugh at the well meaning stalwarts of righteousness ...
The European Trump bumbles again and like all career politicians Priti apologises after the event and sails on into her sunset.
Unfortunately, calling Johnson "The European Trump" is frighteningly accurate in my opinion, because his government seems to be copying the strategy used by Trump. Whatever the circumstances, defend your supporters at all costs. We've even seen blatant lies where failures are actually portrayed as triumphs in the hope that a lot won't notice. Trump did it with Covid, where he insisted his actions had saved many lives when it was quite clear that his inaction had cost many lives. The Tories are doing the same with test, track and trace. It's clear that their system has been an abject failure from day one (if horsesh!t wants to prove me wrong then feel free), but Matt Hancock goes on TV and insists it is working well and all his "audacious" targets are being met. If this is just lefty propaganda, please could someone put me right?
Regarding Patel, I don't see how this is a left v right issue. Surely it's right v wrong? If bullying has taken place (and the report says it has) then the bully should pay the consequences. Not under this government it seems, a grudging "I didn't mean it" is perfectly acceptable.
If a 'balanced view' means that all you have to do is oppose extreme views you're probably right. I also dislike hard left/right crap, but like to offer an in between view. Obviously not directly in between, but what does offering no view at all but still criticising those who do add to the debate?
Thank you Smiffy, there are to many experts on here who think they know more about a person than they do.
I try to not to get to involved now in politics because everyone goes round in circles quoting pieces from the guardian or the sun whichever suites their agenda.
Elite has enough opinions for everyone and picks a target and will contradict them at every opportunity. Laddo is his present target.
Thank you for proving my point so quickly i961. The thread title is 'Johnson & Patel' and you have contributed 3 out of 18 posts on it. Not one of them has addressed the thread title, and as I said all 3 have been whining about other posters rather than commenting on the topic.
If I'm wrong, please call me out by all means.
Do you from your totally, totally neutral position have an opinion? If not, why are you here?
