    As for Ashley Cole I would sooner see Cheryl Cole at least she is a northern lass.

    Pace and Kompany stated at the outset that it is a five year project and that promotion was not expected last season - ahead of schedule.

    Clearly being a permanent fixture in the PL was not anticipated. On that basis, why would he be sacked?

    The only real change, to my mind, would be the transfer spending and the expected results on the back of that.
