Agreed. What good is a one year deal to the anyone? We'll be in the same situation next season. If he suddenly becomes the next David Silva we'll not get a penny as he'll be out of contract. From the outside it looks very much like he's stalling & hoping for a better move & now that doesn't look like its happening, he's only willing to accept a year. If he's not willing to commit then we should find someone who is.

If it was down to me I'd withdraw the contract offer and say see ya. But then as most of you know I'm not the biggest fan.
Shouldn't have been offered an extension in the 1st place.

We should not be pandering to Harkes. Players like him aren't exactly hard to come by.

So decent looking bint flutters her false eyelashes and flashes the flesh, buffed up sportsman succumbs to her womanly charms when his conscience is compromised, does the wicked deed and gets fund oot. Bint’s man, obviously a tad displeased that his trusted companion is not so trustworthy after all goes apesh*t and demands to know who has been oiling the cookie, ‘ain o yir mates’ are the words that fall from the bints cosmetically enhanced lips. Distraught but yet ****in beelin’ chap gets on the blower to buffed up sportsman and voices his displeasure and also relays the sordid goings on to sportyboys missus. Sportyboys missus is no happy, ‘feck you’ was the last words uttered before she bails oot the hoose and jumps the first poor unsuspecting bloke standing at the nearest bus stop, ‘take that ya kunt’ is the phrase she uses on her return to the matrimonial home. The words of Rod Stewart’s Killing of Georgie’ comes to mind ‘there ensued a fearful fight and screams rang out in the night’ is probably the easiest way to describe subsequent events which lead to a visit from Taysides finest, ‘ello, ello, ello what’s been going on here then’ oops says the first rozzer it’s another domestic. Buffed up sportsman’s bosses get to hear of his shannigans and inform him his mates at work are all shaking their nappers so it’s probably best if he bides awa for the time being.

The above scenario gets played out day in, day out around the world and it’s always the male of the species that gets the blame, never the bint! This leads me to the conclusion the the Taliban have got it spot on, cover the bints from head to toe in a burka with a fitted veil so no part is visible to corrupt men, keep them at home to prepare the meals, clean the hoose and watch the bairns, do this and there is no problem because a wise old man once said “standing kocks have no conscience”

If it had been a drink fuelled one off all of that would be true. Regretfully apparently it was far from that and that’s where the issue is - it was calculating, deceitful and two faced to all affected. Stuff like this leaks into the changing room and on to the pitch in terms of attitude and trustworthiness. Boil needs to be lanced - Butcher has to go and he has no one to blame but himself I’m afraid.

7 weeks today we'll be lining up against European opposition in the hope of reaching the final play off ties for qualification into the group stages of the Conference League.

Sounds a long way away but 49 days isn't long when your in tray is heaving. There's a lot of issues to sort out.

Review match videos to identify strengths weaknesses, hopefully already done.
Get to know the players. Assess fitness and meet individually to get to know them a bit and discuss any issues they might want to raise.
Settle any outstanding contract offers eg Harkes
    Resolve Calum Butcher issue.
Review with TA any offers received for players. Decide on what to do with players like Declan Glass...Logan Chalmers
    Goalies....where are we
Discuss with TA transfer targets already identified. Inform TA of would likes and the players that fit that. Tell TA to get his finger out.
Decide if we need to add CB cover.
Sign at least 2 midfielders and a good striker to help Watt as an absolute minimum starting point.
    Check out St Andrews pubs.
    So 49 days, plenty time.

I get the sentiment but most of that will be happening regardless of who the head coach is.
