Johnson announces plan to host the World Cup

So it's been decided to put together a successful bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

If accepted, why will it have taken 64 years to do so? This has been far too long for our turn to come around again.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson says it is the "right time" for the UK and Republic of Ireland to launch a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The UK government will reportedly pledge £2.8m to kick-start the process in Wednesday's Budget.

The football associations of England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland say they are "delighted" with the government's commitment.

"We are very, very keen to bring football home in 2030," Johnson said.

    Let's hope it happens.

Obviously some jiggery pokery if the bid has already been successful before it's even been submitted

Think you’ve misread the o/t. Nothings been granted yet, Johnson is putting a plan together with a pot of 2.8 million pounds to help structure a bid.

It's a global game Brin so why take it to a society with an already existing infrastructure and a sound economy when with the help of a few brown envelopes you can take it somewhere that results in possibly 10,000 workers losing their lives due to poor H&S regulations.

Hopefully advice from Lord Coe or a sponging member of the royal family won’t be needed.

I think if it did there might be a few questions asked as to why the US got 2026 and 2030 but who knows what was going on when you have the likes of Blatter and Infantino at the helm?

I think I might put in an unsuccessful bid. Cost nothing to try.
