    Money over morals

Moving on from the knee thing, another divisive issue is the new golf championship, lavishly funded by the Saudi govt. personally, the pros who are going for top dollar Ihave no problem with, their ‘excuses’ for doing so and avoidance of the human rights issues are a bit sickening. Views anyone? And, how would you feel if Saudi money saved The Rams?

Saudi is a conundrum isn't it? We need to be friends with them for their oil to keep coming at a reasonable rate and price or face even higher prices at the pumps. We need to be friends with them so UK arms manufacturers can continue to sell them billions of pounds worth of armaments they can use on the Yemen.

The price of that "friendship" is not pushing civil and human rights issues too hard. Just enough to appease protestors but not enough to upset the Royals there.

They need ostracising every bit as much as Putin and Russia.

Saudi money may be what's backing Kirchner, after all he got an invite to the LIV pro am, and I'm sure Saudi money would prefer to hide from the public eye.....

Didn't he sponsor the recent Dubai golf tournament to the tune of $10M and might that be the reason for the pro-am invitation?

I believe he did, but why would they need him to sponsor a tournament?

On the Saudi question, if the same deal or similar to that at Newcastle was applied to Derby, I'd cease to support them as a club, simple as.

But then I've lost interest in much football, especially the premier league, its becoming rather boring watching a club bankrolled by a sovereign nation state make a mockery of FFP rules. Sport is abut fair competition, whilst there will always be big fish and minnows, the unequal nature and the obscene wages being paid mean I am totally disenchanted with it.

Oh God, I'm sounding like rA now....

I didn't watch a single premier League game last season, nor champions League. Many moons ago a friend used to go and watch amateur games on Hackney Marshes, rather than top flight games. I couldn't understand why at the time. I now do

Lol...you’ll be going to the theatre and reading the Independent next! I knew we’d get there...you’re beginning to return to the RR I used to know and love. Go on...you can do it!

Never been to Hackney Marshes in my life.

As I sit here, having eaten a bacon sandwich with no knowledge of how well / badly the animal was treated, living off the wealth created by foreign invasion and everything bad associated with it by my ancestors, in my clothes made by Asian children, typing on my plastic keyboard that will inevitably pollute the planet, utilising hardware that would've been mined by African children... I don't feel qualified to make negative judgements on the source of finance for others.

I always used to read the Independent.......then the "i"......but haven't bought a newspaper in perhaps 10 years now

Hackney Marshes - massive complex of mainly football pitches in London facilitating a lot of Sunday morning league type football, of the sort I used to play (badly) back before I even read the Independent
