Man United could sell some of their players and half that debt. Is it really debt though?
Any business of that size uses the banks money. The repayments are met and unless they don’t make them they’re in a good position.

There'll be all sorts of creative accounting going off here. One thing's for sure, it won't be for the benefit of the supporters or the football community. It will all be about evading tax (or whatever) and further lining of the pockets of the billionaire owners.

I don't know why we should all be so shocked. It's pretty much what's going off with everything else in our lives so why not footy?

The Glazier family financed their original purchase and subsequent operating costs, transfers etc via borrowing rather than having finances in place
That’s why the manu fans hated them so much because they knew it was built on quicksand and they were looking to make serious profits out of them.
They now look as though they are going to make billions on the sale without ever putting their own money in ( if they ever had any)

I suppose the key thing is who pays off the debts….the Glaziers from their windfall sale before they leave or the new owners have to service the debt? Depends on the details in the terms of the sale

Chelsea and Liverpool and others aren't far behind Man Utd. Doesn't matter what they owe in total, so long as the interest is paid each month then the banks are happy with that arrangement as they are raking it in from them all.

Not forgetting the Glaziers had dividend payments before out of the club, but decided against it this financial year, perhaps fearing a backlash if they did.
