    Starmer Took 20K

What an absolute f uckin joke! This p rick should be sacked! So every other child can be expected to work all hours under the sun to try and achieve the grades ( without being able to afford private tuition) and this t wat gets 20K which is more than many get in an annual salary! Corrupt all of them! Most corporate companies would sack you on the spot for taking anything other than a Xmas card. I worked as a senior buyer for a huge corporate company and yes there was a declaration form - you still was not allowed to accept anything! Dusgusting!

Sir Keir Starmer has revealed a more than £20,000 donation he took from Labour donor Lord Alli was to help his son study for his GCSEs during the election. The revelation comes with the prime minister in New York for a UN summit, while his party's conference concludes in Liverpool.

F uck off Labour you have lost all credibility!

Mis-step, tone deafness or hypocrisy? Doesn't matter as his personal credibility is fast disappearing.

As Harriet Harman points out, his decision to double down and try and defend his actions through feeble excuses rather than admitting mistakes is only making things worse. It may be such things are endemic in politics regardless of party and are technically "within the rules" but Starmer's victory was very much due to a promise of change after all the revelations of self interest and corruption around the Tory elite. Hardly setting an example is he?

I have to say, I really don't like Starmer but this particular issue is a non-story.

He didn't receive £20k for an apartment. Someone just offered his son a space to revise in an empty flat and Starmer registered it as a gift based on the price it would have been.

Taylor Swift tickets and free designer clothes were a bit of a joke, but this I think is understandable.

In itself maybe not Matt but it's the cumulative affect of all this which I believe makes it a valid story to run. I'm also sure that it's not like he doesn't already have a nice house large enough for his son to study in some peace and quiet so this wasn't exactly an understandable "need" was it, more of a "nice to have". I'm sure his son thought great just as our own kids would if offered similar but the point is that Starmer seems not only totally oblivious to how this looks but actually thinks it's OK.

If he was Joe average and he had a rich mate who provided a place for his son to study in, brought him expensive glasses or treated his wife to expensive clothes, you may think, so what-but I'm sure you would also question what exactly such a friend might want in return. The fact that it is the same person, Lord Ali, who keeps helping him out makes it worse and is bound to prompt similar questions and these questions matter because he is prime minister. MPs are elected representatives paid by tax payers money, they are not just private individuals any more and should surely be held to higher standards whilst in that role.

As I posted earlier, politics is an expensive business and all parties are reliant on donors whether from wealthy individuals, businesses or unions. IMHO that is fair enough, but gifts to individuals -particularly those in positions of power and especially a PM-is a different thing entirely as it leaves them open to accusations of self-interest and bribery. Doubtless he has technically acted within the rules but, if so, perhaps the rules need changing.

We know that varying levels of self interest- if not outright corruption-happen in most governments because power too easily corrupts but after (rightly) criticising the Tory elite for their behaviour, Starmer's own, even if well short of BJ's standards, is increasingly beginning to smack of hypocrisy. I had expected better.

£20,000 for a spot of cramming seems a tad excessive, especially as that amount could buy roughly three entire terms of day attendance at a private school.

Must have been a very expensive pad to be taking notes in. Mind you a tool makers pay was pretty good compared to that of say a sorter back in the day so it depends on what you're accustomed to.

Nothing wrong with having a taste for the finer things in life so long as you can afford them. Starmer is an independently wealthy man and I'm sure he can afford those finer things. He's also taking the p iss.

Meanwhile watch your back and watch your bank account if you find yourself in need of help with your fuel bills or dependent on a wage top up courtesy of Universal Credit. Watch out watch out there's a Starmer about.

I kind of agree with you, I understand this and the box at Arsenal. In a similar way, I also understood why Sunak used a helicopter to travel around the UK.

What I will say about the other stuff such as the clothes, glasses etc. is that Starmer has been extremely naïve, and that's being kind. Given the corruption and sleaze we had in previous years with the last Government, you would have thought he would have made a huge effort to be the complete opposite of that to show there is real change happening.

He must have known the media will jump on any gift he declares. And he has enough cash to pay for his own glasses etc. So why did he do it knowing there was a fair chance he was going to get so much heat from it? The mind boggles, he has brought this on himself.

I really hope there a no confidence vote and he’s forced to leave. Add to that stop him from having a salary even after he leaves. The hypocrite deserves all he gets.. to think that i’d vote labour with this boring sod, i’m glad I didn’t. Well it would not have mattered in my area. I gave him the chance thinking he’d be competent, he’s turning out to be corrupt and bought easily. Also this Ali guy, wtf does he think he’s doing. Sack him too.

Would love it, love it if Kier got booted out. Andy Burnham step in.

Should a free flat be extended to kids who share bedrooms with siblings so can’t focus, houses that live next door to very busy roads or kids who can’t afford lap tops or computers!

Sorry Matt it’s not right and this p rick should be setting an example! I thought he wanted to help state school kids but hey all about his own son! What next this donor paying for private tuition lessons because he might get bullied at school!

Of course he can’t go in the normal seats at the emirates. But does have single person in corporate hospitality earn more than his 400K declared a year? No! So why should someone on 50 or 100K a year have to pay for corporate hospitality and this p rick gets it free? He should pay for it like the rest of the people!!!!

He’s a wealthy man Al and wealthy men have wealthy friends. So inevitably, whether we like it or not, he has access to better accommodation than we do. We would all make the call to safeguard our children if press were sat outside our house. He’s not exactly going to put him up in a council house in Brixton is he? I’d have done the same in this position.

Feel guilty sticking up for him as he’s an absolute pr*ck and I agree with Omeg that he’s caused this issue with the Taylor Swift nonsense.

Good to see him sticking up for the sausages though!
