Useless post incoming.....
I've never been but I vaguely ken a couple boys fae there and they're fine lads.
Small chance of a job popped up in this place. I know we've a few west coasters on here, anyone tell me anything about the town and the area in general? I've never heard of the place before.

There’s not really much to the place. Nice wee rural commuter town, which I suspect is fairly staunch. Close to the seaside and handy for nice places if you’ve got a camper van
My mate Jim the welding inspector lives there. If you see him, tell him I said hello
My Ma was from Beith
It's possible it's changed in the 70 years since she left but not significantly.
As Mason suspects staunch but not in a Larkhall/Wishaw kind of way more Rotarian you're not joining oor golf club kind of vibe.
There are much worse wee towns in Ayrshire.
I drew the short straw in the 79 General Election by being in the cabal sent to Patna and Ochiltree to canvass and leaflet. Fúck me, it was bad enough then when it still had a coal-mining workforce. I shudder at the thought of it now. And the local NUM, I was sorry to find out, was in Foulkes’s pocket, and thought nothing of putting the pit boot into any opposition, even if the proven strongest candidate on whose behalf we were working, had a huge reputation in protecting jobs in South Ayrshire.
Different times.
On a similar note, I’ve just started working in Laurencekirk. Tried to read Sunset Song (again) in preparation but chucked it halfway through (again)
Anything to do/see/avoid?
