    📝 Cedwyn Scott Signs

    We have the pair!

Notts "have paid an undisclosed fee for the services of Gateshead’s [other] free-scoring front man Cedwyn Scott, who has signed a two-year deal."

They already know each other's games and have proven a partnership at the level below. Love this.

    Cedwyn Scott

We have paid an undisclosed fee for the services of Gateshead’s free-scoring front man Cedwyn Scott, who has signed a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old becomes the second prolific forward to join us from the Tynesiders this summer following the arrival of Macaulay Langstaff.

Together the pair fired Heed to last season’s National League North title, Scott notching 24 league goals and Langstaff 28 as they wrote their names into the division’s Team of the Season.

And our head coach Luke Williams is excited to add Scott to his armoury.

When Ryan and I arrived at the club, Cedwyn was one of the first players presented to us by the recruitment team,” said the head coach.

“Of course, we weren’t at the club when the process of analysing Cedwyn had begun so it was amazing to walk in and hear experienced staff telling us ‘we’ve been monitoring this player – let us show you some of his qualities.’

“Ryan and I were both taken aback. To know that all that work had been done over a long period of time was a really nice feeling to walk into and we were fully behind the club getting this deal done.

“Of course, the most important thing about Cedwyn is that he can score. Over the years we’ve all seen players with fantastic technique in training but, when they’re inside the 18-yard box during a game, they can’t replicate it.

“Clearly, Cedwyn has the quality to remain calm and find the finish. He can play across the top of the pitch, he’s determined to score and has the strength to hold people off. We’re delighted to have him.”

On Scott and Langstaff’s potential partnership, Williams added: “If they hit the ground running that’s fantastic, but it’s important we all recognise it’s a step up for both players – it’s not a given that they can immediately recreate what they achieved last season.

“What we do know, however, is that they both have huge quality and that they will be given the support they need to help with their adaptation to a new club and division.”

Hailing from Hexham, near Newcastle, Scott began his career as a trainee at Huddersfield Town and, after bagging 21 goals in 26 games for their Under 18s, left them in 2018 to join Dundee.

He hit the ground running north of the border, proving prolific for their development side and being named on the bench for the first team’s SPL trip to Rangers before making his professional debut away at Motherwell.

Two further SPL appearances followed before the season was out and in 2018-19 he joined Division Two side Berwick Rangers on loan, bagging a brace on his debut and finishing his spell with four goals in eight games.

He completed the season with League One outfit Forfar Athletic before retuning to his native north-east by joining Dunston UTS ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

His goalscoring form then earned him a move to Northern League side Hebburn Town and a sensational start to the 2020-21 season led him to spending four weeks on trial at Newcastle United, and then Carlisle.

He did enough to earn a short-term deal with the Cumbrians before joining Gateshead last summer, scoring 26 goals in 50 appearances over the course of an incredibly successful and memorable campaign."

Excellent signing and gives us a real front two that can already operate together.
It does bring back the question though regards why not Williamson as manager if they were tracking him for a while. Could be something regards a clause not allowing anymore Gateshead signings...which is more valuable...the manager or the partnership upfront.

Great signing. Now lets sort out the midfield please!

With all these Northeasterners, that dressing room is going to sound like an episode of When the boat comes in!

Gateshead fans absolutely fuming so that’s a sign he’s worth it.
Now we’ve poached both their front two, hope we leave Gateshead alone. They’ll end up dropping straight back down if we buy all their team!

Looking forward to seeing if Roberts and Ruben stay now. Can you imagine the chances were going to have with Ruben just behind the front two and Roberts and Nemane ripping up from the wings?
    Scary!

Need to think height now though. Neither of the two new front pairing are tall headers of the ball so midfield needs some steel, strength and height (then again, how many years have we been saying that?!?!?)

Add to that a dominating CB and we’re on the way!

It does, best of luck to the pair of them.

🟡🔵 Solihull Moors are set to raid relegation favourites Gateshead for their striker Cedwyn Scott, who is keen to emulate former strike partner Macauley Langstaff in securing a move higher up the pyramid.
