    Dean Whitehead

Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Dean Whitehead has left the club to join the backroom team at Stoke City.

Whitehead joined the Reds this summer as part of Darrell Clarke’s coaching staff, however he has now exercised a clause in his agreement allowing him to leave Oakwell.

We would like to thank Dean for his hard work over the past two months and we wish him well for the future.

Connor Hourihane will step up to a broader role whilst also being available to Darrell Clarke as a player for the duration of the season.

    Here today gone tomorrow.

Bit of a fleeting stint at the club…

I guess we’ve got some compensation for him.

Not sure there’s much else to say really.

Historians believe that the most common variety of rat to leave sailing ships that were in distress in the Caribbean in the 17th century was the white headed Movo Rat. They would often urinate on the ship to mark by smell quick escape routes should they detect a ship was listing to one side. It is believed to be the origin of the phrase "Taking the p1ss" and the notion of "rats deserting a sinking ship".

Maybe he left because his 'legs have gone!', even though he's a Coach lol.
But it doesn't sound too good does it, so is it a case of him deserting a slowly sinking ship!.
    Maybe ?. 😟

Clarke, whose side visit Burton on Saturday, said: “Dean is a great lad, but I also understand that Stoke is his club and he spent a lot of time there and it’s an opportunity he couldn’t turn down. The club gets compensated and I’ve got a good backroom team.

    That’s right lol.
He’s gone back to the club he is associated with lol.
Which brings Hourihane more into the frame lol.
    And as expected lol.
He wasn’t signed to play lol.
But was signed more as a coach lol.
    By own opinion lol.
Is that we need Devaney to provide a bigger input lol.
As he seems to be more in tune with what that club would like to see lol.
