Blimey, some people are hard to please. We won comfortably, scored some great goals and the opposition didn’t manage a shot on target. Yes, I would have loved it if we’d completely destroyed them and played well for 90 minutes rather than, say, 19, but I’ll take an easy 3-0 win any day of the week (but especially on a Saturday).

We do need a few more players and need to cut out the sloppiness, but if that performance generates doom and gloom, I don’t know what to suggest.

This is NCM, nobody should be surprised.

We've probably played a fair number of friendlies in that level heat over the years but not many competitive matches. I wouldn't last 5 minutes sitting in an unshaded part of the stand in those conditions, never mind running around on the pitch.
Logically, the heat should suit us. We always have loads more possession than the opposition, and when it’s really hot you don’t want to be chasing the ball.

I think this thread is a symptom of Notts fans really not used to being a good team, because a lot of what being a good team (which we’re almost certainly going to be for the level for the fourth season in a row) is about is routinely winning quite boring games of football.

And I thought I was negative!

Bluddy hell why all the pessimism? We've played one game fergawdsake.

Let's see where we are after nine games, eh? If, overall, we're performing poorly, then by all means I'll be happy to join the whinging chorus of complaint.

To be honest, I was encouraged by the way we closed them down and stopped them pressing us. Not a great spectacle admittedly but we dealt with them effectively and efficiently. Not as boring as the tippy tappy, “to me to you” bullux of last season.

Good win… happy with the performance and the three points.

I’m at the point now where there’s only one thing I want to see Notts do this season, and that’s win! I’ll take a 1-0 scrappy win against anyone right now. I’m not going to worry that we’ll lose against tougher opponents if we play badly because it’s a completely different game. Just win the game we’re involved in and move to the next.
To suggest we won’t make the playoffs after a 3-0 win is a new level of stupid.
Wrexham made very hard work of Eastleigh and Chessie threw away a 2 goal lead against Dorking. That must guarantee them bottom half finishes by the same measure!

For 90% of the game when we had the ball our players were content to just stand there and do nothing. They didn't move to create anything while the ball was played across the back up a little bit and then back to to the keeper and then around the back again. Next game you go to I suggest you actually look at the players and the movement they do when we get the ball, it seems to be some sort of game where we get the ball and suddenly our players just stop and stand where they are.

Also I don't think I have ever seen a team that passes the ball back to the keeper so much. If I had to take a guess at the player that received the most passed I would say Slocombe by a country mile. I still have no confidence in his ability, is passing is awful at best, his awareness of what is going on around him is laughable and on occasion he held onto the ball when opposition were closing on him and he didn't realise it, also if there is a opportunity to get the ball moving quickly and start an attack is wither seems oblivious to it or just will not take the chance.

On this display, if this is the level of ability, I think we will be lucky to get into the playoffs this season. This is the same cr@p as last season and the seasons before that and playing in that way hasn't gotten us promoted yet and won't this season. People really need to take off the rose tinted goggles they wear to the game and actually watch what is really happening. Watch how when we get the ball our players come to a halt where they are and just stand there, how while they are standing there as iff stuck in mud the ball is just palyed around at the back, how we cause ourselves problems that better opposition would punish us for.

I really want us to get promoted but cannot see it happening this season on what was on display yesterday.
After just one game where we just managed to score 3 goals and conceded none.😂😂😂😂

Laugh all you like i961 but he cleverly inserrted the NCM classic "I really want us to get promoted but cannot see it happening this season......." and therefore in all likelihood he (and others) can turn around at the end of the season and say "told ya we wouldn't get promoted" like its a big statement or they spotted the trend early lol. Let's ignore for a moment the statistical low probability and chances for all clubs each season, oh and NCFC's historical record of promotions etc.

In fact I am going to join the usual suspects and openly state that I would love to be proved wrong but I cannot see it happening this season.

    Nailed it

Having just seen the 3 goals that's all we need to do. The first one we cut them to ribbons and a great finish. The second Langstaff still had plenty to do and did exactly what Wootton could never do. The third a screamer. That's good enough for me. Next!

Yeah but we were rubbish and have no chance of making the playoffs. I’m still not sure how the poster came to this conclusion having only watched us and Maidenhead.
