Italy has stopped them doing their jobs. The Dutch police have fired on anti-lockdown demonstrators, seriously injuring some of them. We are witnessing the ultimate folly of frightened politicians who cannot accept that they are impotent in the face of some natural phenomena.

If lockdowns, forced closures of businesses and other brutal countermeasures work, then why are these countries on their fifth wave of the pandemic and their third or fourth lockdown? How long must this go on before we recognise that these measures simply push infections into the period after they are lifted?

The logic of persisting with them now is that they can never be lifted. What were once justified as temporary measures to hold the position until vaccines were available are in danger of being forced on people as permanent changes to their way of life. Perhaps the ugliest feature of the crisis is the politicians’ habit of blaming others for the bankruptcy of their own policies."

I would agree with that, that's what we are now seeing in the EU.
The EU is imho an authoritarian body. It was never concerned with free trade, always being a protectionist body quite willing to threaten to cut off electricity to the Channel Islands’ schools, hospitals and homes if it does not get its way. As Poland and Hungary have found out it is not particularly concerned with democracy either but demands complete obedience to its laws and rules. Quite a price to pay just so you can carry round a piece of paper saying “Civis Romanus Sum” or whatever is the modern equivalent. I can see why many are prepared to pay but I am not.

    Possibly this 'Left-Wing' BT ?

"Why is the Left So Enthusiastic About Covid Restrictions, Given that the People they Harm the Most are the Poor and Vulnerable?"

"We’re publishing an original essay today by Dr. Gary Sidley, a retired clinical psychologist with over 30 years’ experience working for the NHS, asking why the left are more enthusiastic about lockdowns than the right. Here is an extract:"

"A political dimension shaping attitudes towards the Government’s response to Covid might help explain an intriguing observation I made in the spring of 2020, and one that continues to baffle me: that the large majority of my left-wing, socialist friends immediately embraced and supported unprecedented restrictions that were always going to disproportionately disadvantage the less affluent people within our communities. Twenty months on, and despite accumulating evidence that impositions such as lockdowns and masks are ineffective and hugely damaging, their views seem resistant to change. What are likely to be the key reasons why most Labour Party supporters have backed the Government’s draconian Covid restrictions? Although I do not claim to have the definitive answers to this question, my intention is to share ideas that will stimulate the ongoing debate.

It was clear from the outset that lockdowns, and other unprecedented measures, would hurt poor people considerably more than the affluent, and it was therefore reasonable to expect that those on the left of the political spectrum would push back hard against these restrictions. Dire predictions were evident early in the pandemic. In April 2020, a pre-print paper in the Lancet forecast that the restrictions would have a “devastating” impact on the third-world, significantly contributing to the deaths of more than one million children under five years-old in low-to-middle income countries. Around the same time, the UN International Labour Organisation expressed concern that “half the people in the global workforce risk losing their jobs”. Subsequently, these grim prophecies were substantiated, with lockdowns evoking carnage in both Africa and India, despite their populations being much younger than those in the Western world and therefore at far less risk from the virus.

While the parliamentary Labour Party repeatedly backed the Government’s imposition of draconian Covid measures, typically urging earlier and harder restrictions, the working-class demographic they claim to represent were suffering disproportionately. Whereas many white-collar, professional employees happily Zoomed from home, those in relatively low-paid occupations (such as delivery drivers, supermarket workers and care-home assistants) continued their essential work in the real world. Many other people, particularly the young and lowly paid in the leisure and retail industries, lost their jobs; by winter 2020, an additional 600,000 people in the U.K. had fallen into poverty as a result of lockdown."

More lies from the Lefty media, this time some anonymous NHS doctor claiming in the Guardian "ICU is full of the unvaccinated – my patience with them is wearing thin", when the latest stats from the UKHSA shows 71% of Covid hospitalisations are vaccinated, and in the month up to November 14th just 18% of those that have died were unvaccinated, meaning 82% of those who died with Covid were vaccinated patients.

Why would a NHS doctor lie about the situation in our hospitals, why does the Lefty media attempt to stigmatise unvaccinated people by publishing these lies about the unvaccinated ? You tell me, I don't know.

I read that article sinkov and then consigned it to the trash bin because the brave soul remained anonymous.

Our friendly neighbourhood nurse just rolls her eyes if you ask her about our local hospital's ICU.

    "Inundated" my arse.

I suspect he's anonymous BT because he doesn't actually exist, a figment of some Lefty hack's imagination at the Grauniad. Wouldn't be the first time for that rag.

Abstract 10712: Mrna COVID Vaccines Dramatically Increase Endothelial Inflammatory Markers and ACS Risk as Measured by the PULS Cardiac Test: a Warning

.We conclude that the mRNA vacs dramatically increase inflammation on the endothelium and T cell infiltration of cardiac muscle and may account for the observations of increased thrombosis, cardiomyopathy, and other vascular events following vaccination.

I picked one at random, Olivia Podmore and googled it. She is a suspected suicide having mental issues. I'll try a few more but there does seem to be a growing trend in football players collapsing.

"Earlier this year, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported that roughly 90% of the English public were adhering to the Government’s Covid laws and guidance, but, according to a recent survey by the ONS, the figure has dropped to 70%, showing that the compliance rate is currently at a record low. The ONS found that 29% of respondents who admitting to expressing Covid symptoms said that they did not self-isolate, with a similar ONS study revealing that the British public are now less concerned about following Covid safety measures, such as wearing masks."

As the deadly virus rips through European countries with their mask mandates and vax passports, it remains quite benign in the UK, where the public are increasingly ignoring the guidance and trying to get their lives back to some semblance of normality. The obvious conclusion to be drawn is that the virus pays little heed to masks and vaccine passports, they are a complete and utter waste of time, it's been proved before, it's being proved again right now in Europe. But will it make any difference when, as winter sets in, cases will inevitably rise in the UK ? Of course it won't, the mask morons will be all over the media and the lockdown loons will be out in force, ignoring the clear evidence from Europe, Plan B will be implemented, amid admonishments to Boris that he should have done it earlier. and then he would have saved thousands of lives.

But none of it will make any difference, cases will rise, peak and fall in their own good time, masks or no masks, but the fantasy that our politicians can 'control' this virus has to be preserved. At whatever cost.
