Some talk
Sean Dyche is a fan of Jed Wallace and James McCarthy while Manchester United’s forgotten man Phil Jones could also be on his way to Burnley, as reported by The Sun (5 January, page 51).
Young midfielders Lewis O’Brien and Jason Knight, of Huddersfield Town and Derby County respectively, are targets along with Millwall’s talismanic winger Wallace.

Dyche is ‘tempted to take him on loan for the rest of the season’ after Man Utd ‘indicated they would be prepared to pay a large chunk of his £130,000 a week wages if he is loaned out.’

Burnley’s pursuit of Nottingham Forest centre-back Joe Worrall has “gone quiet”, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Turf Moor in the summer and following ALK Capital’s recent takeover, reports indicated that the club were set to step up their interest.
Nixon has revealed, however, that the Clarets’ pursuit of Worrall has “gone quiet”, noting that he is unsure whether the club have changed priorities or moved onto another target.
We’re into Day 6 of the January transfer window but not one Premier League team have announced a new signing.
Looking like BT's Taxi will be staying under wraps again.!,
I've just been checking BBC sport, as you say oc, all very quiet.
Burnley have five players in their first-team squad worth in excess of £10m, according to the latest CIES Observatory statistics on Premier League players.
Nick Pope, Josh Brownhill, Dwight McNeil and, perhaps surprisingly, both Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood are players from Sean Dyche's group who would command an eight-figure sum using CIES' calculations in their biannual transfer value list report.
Pope has been the outstanding goalkeeper in the Premier League and Burnley fans would be right to suggest his valuation of between £10-15m seems low given his importance to the side, while McNeil, who while an outstanding prospect has struggled for consistency in his second season at senior level, is valued at anywhere between £50-70m.
Brownhill, who signed in January last year for £9m, is ranked at now at least nearly double that with a £15-20m pricetag, while Wood and Westwood are both in the £10-15m bracket.
Perhaps the most revealing number on the list is that of James Tarkowski's. The defender was linked with a £30m-plus move to Leicester City in the summer after refusing to sign a new deal at Turf Moor and, with his contract entering its final 18 months, is worth just a paltry £7-10m in the CIES findings on the Clarets.
Burnley would not entertain any offer of that value in the January transfer window given the player's importance to the team and it would likely still require something in excess of £30m to make the Clarets consider a sale.
Transfermarkt values for comparison
Pope €12k
Brownhill €5.5k
McNeill €25 k
Wood €12 k
Westwood € 5.5k
Tarks €28k.
