A very brave, but equally necessary decision, - which has been made with the best interests of the club at heart.
The club wasted no time in releasing the following statement:-
With the season now coming to a conclusion, after what has been a challenging campaign, we have mutually agreed to part company with manager Marvin Bartley. We would like to pass on our thanks to Marvin for his efforts over the course of the season and wish him well for the future.
Chairman Billy Hewitson said- "We had all hoped for a successful season competing at the top end of the league but unfortunately this was not meant to be so the decision has been made to part company with Marvin. We thank him and wish him well going forward."
Marvin added, "We obviously wanted a successful season but it wasn’t meant to be for one reason or another including injuries. A young group will have improved and learned a lot this year and be better for it. This will allow the club a full summer to move forward. I would like to thank the coaching staff players, the Board, the fans and everyone at the club especially the volunteers for all their efforts during my time at the club."

Thank the Lord
Now we just need to ditch the majority of the squad and start again.
Easy words to say but much more difficult to achieve in reality. There is not a queue of better players lining up to join the club. Need to be selective as to those we ditch if ready replacements are available but ultimately it will be up to the new man behind the helm when they are appointed not wild speculation on the net. So the sooner a new manager is chosen the better.
A very necessary action to move the club forward. Marvin never appreciated the chance to learn his trade at a club that gives most managers time. Marvin always seemed more concerned about himself than the club.
Football is a team sport. We need to have a connection between manager and players and fans that has been sadly lacking of late.
Tough to get next appointment right but a great opportunity for someone.
I would retain a few of the squad but if we do not add new players the misery of this season will be replicated. Too many were lacking in quality and effort. The home crowds dropped and unless things change this will not improve irrespective of who the manager is.
Qos dreamer is spot on. A manager needs to realise that the fans are the life blood of the club.
Marvin only realised that last Saturday at Palmerston, but it was far too late.
He lived in his own bubble, completely oblivious to the concerns of the fans, and equally oblivious to his own players and the BOD.
Maybe time for a quick reminder to the Queens board not to give out contracts that we can't afford to honour if it all goes South again. Also may not be best to hire the slickest talker at the interviews.
Fascinating final post match interview from Bartley now available. Says he handed out loads of fines to the players who he put into three categories. Those that bought into his vision and were willing to improve/learn from him. Cat 2 the journey men that went through the motions and finally those he considered frauds that took the money and never tried. He then had a go at the club's budget which he declared was not sufficient for a full time club but this he new when he took the job. So everybody but himself which is consistent with every interview he has done.
