It's to be expected from every modern day footballer. Why risk another injury in League One when you're probably going to be sold to a Prem team and make more money? Agent probably advising him on this.
Surely, regardless of any contract if he refuses to work we don't have to pay him. His refusal has to void any contract?

If we void his contract, he could leave on a free transfer I'm assuming. What I'm guessing happened is that the deal to Palace is all but done according to his agent and he was advised to sit out and not risk injury.Originally Posted by WOODLANDSWOLF

Yeah bollox to him from me as well.
Tosspot now as far as I am concerned and another one who has been paid for 12 months whilst injured just to shaft us like Kightly.
Get stuffed Hennessy and whilst I will stop short at hoping he gets injured I sure as hell hope he falls flat on his face.

Well said and if he goes to Palace he will be back in the championship next year anyway, along with Jarvis and Fletcher.

How many years in total has he been injured for???? We didn't turn our backs on him, we got him fit, put him between the sticks and put our belief in him more than three times...ba
I get being upset, but if the club are going to treat footy like a business, the players will too. Club doesn't always do what is best for the players. Players aren't always going to do what is best for the club. Hennessey and his agent see an opportunity to get back into the Prem, probably make a little bit more money than he is now. If you're going to be a backup, why be a backup in League One over the Prem? If we were in the Championship, I think he might have done differently, but we're in the third tier and no closer to the top flight than we were yesterday.
It's frustrating because we've been there for the past two years or so and watched him get healthy. But if the club didn't view him as an investment and getting him back healthy as the biggest payoff, would they have done so? Or would they just have gotten rid of him?
If this were Big George, would we be upset? Nope. We're upset because we view Hennessey as a quality player. Not because we like him individually.
